The client is a leading provider of mission-critical communications solutions to the world's


largest financial services firms, as well as to public safety; government security; energy and
power; and transportation organizations. The client offers customers a suite of products and
enhanced services that includes advanced Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology, and
integrated network and management services to more than 40 countries.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Security architect will be responsible for design, implementation, and support of security
systems and methodologies across the clients product line. One of the major responsibilities of
the architect is to formulate a security roadmap and then go about realizing that roadmap. In
addition the security architect needs to evangelize the security strategy to:
- Product Management, Sales, Pre-sales and Operations,
- Development, directing and influencing the technology direction and design choices that are
made
- Customers at the financial banks particularly in the security groups
The architect must also develop and maintain written policies as guidelines to the development
teams to assure new products have appropriate security measures built in. This position is "hands-
on" to the extent that the architect not only define policies but also suggest technologies, carry out
feasibilities with the development engineers to implement the security policies and standards. The
architect must be able to design and build security devices and tools.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
- Strong knowledge of Security concepts (i.e. architecture, models, management, practices)
- Strong knowledge of Internet (TCP/IP) Network practices and concepts.
- Strong knowledge of Firewall technologies.
- Strong knowledge of encryption technologies and VPN's.
- Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows environments.
- Strong knowledge of security tools (Nesssus, Nmap, etc.) and appliances/applications
(Kerberos, PKI, etc.)
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- The candidate for this job must not require day to day management.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers and employees.
- Demonstrated Project Management abilities.
- Strong communication (both verbal and written) and customer skills (Ability to exchange
information with others clearly and concisely).
- Ability to respond to frequent pressure to meet deadlines when work speed and sustained
accuracy are paramount.
- Ability to respond to frequent demands of multiple customers (internal and external).
- Ability to work with the development organization in a team environment to both implement
and champion security standards.

REQUIRED EDUCATION
- BS Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience Sample

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement all security programs and measures to ensure the best possible
security safeguards and maintain the successful operation of the clients product line.
- Design, develop, and implement an authentication system that needs to be incorporated into the
clients product line.
- Design, develop and maintain security policies to address engineering response to newly
released vulnerabilities in any shipping operating system or network hardware of the clients
product line.
- Assist in design, implementation, and management of a new security lab.
- Develop strategies and plans for proactive security incident response. Which includes:
o Technical investigations.
o Operating system and network patching and testing procedures; including response time
service level requirements.
o Internal & External notification procedures.
- Develop, implement, and enforce security strategies, policies and procedures on all released
products.
- Analyze, recommend, and test security technologies such as firewalls, IDS (network and server),
NAC, certificates, AAA, CIA, and PKI.
- Deliver the above security-related projects utilizing project management capabilities. Act as an
effective participant on multi-discipline project teams.
- Create and popularize a central repository for all security related information.
- Some travel will be required for customer meetings.

Accountability
- All aspects of security in the clients product line will be the responsibility of this candidate's
team.
- Some project management of security projects through the development process and assure they
are implemented to specification, and get priority in each product release.

Interdependencies
- Must work with the clients sales team, and pre-sales engineers to help respond to customer
RFP's and sales meetings.
- Must work with product management to assure security requirements are present in all clients
MRDs.
- Must work the various clients development teams to assure security measures are implemented
as part of those teams' deliverables. work with development team to carry out the feasibilities
- Must work with clients operations to help them transition their workflow as it is affected by new
security measures implemented in the product.
