Minimum Qualification Requirement: Must have four years experience that


demonstrates the ability to plan, develop, and coordinate special events in support of active
duty military and family member needs; or similar experience.

Special Note: Must be able to accommodate flexible work schedule to include nights and
weekends.

Introduction. This position is located in Personal Readiness and Community Support,


Marine and Family Services Division, Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS), Marine
Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The incumbent acts as an MCCS liaison to
the Area Command and staff of a geographic area of the installation under cognizance of
the MCCS Director or designated representative.

Duties and Responsibilities. The incumbent’s responsibility, first and foremost, is to


lead by example, to shape and sustain a working environment most conducive to the
successful performance of those entrusted to his/her leadership and direction. Creating
a positive atmosphere and culture within the Marine and Family Services Division, that
reflects the pride, professionalism, sense of accomplishment, fulfillment, collaborative
engagement, well-being, and wholehearted customer focus of its employees is the
incumbents’ essential purpose and focus of main effort. Promotes World Class Customer
service with an emphasis on courtesy. Serves as a conduit through which the
commander and staff can gain knowledge of and direct access to the full spectrum of
services offered by MCCS. Plans, develops and coordinates MCCS support of active duty
military personnel and family needs. Implements policies or guidance with focus on
coordination of programs, services and activities. Develops, executes and monitors
budget for command MCCS support. Monitors programs and initiates corrective action to
ensure unit support by MCCS programs. Develops long range MCCS support plans.
Coordinates all MCCS marketing, in collaboration with the MCCS Marketing Director, to
include designing effective marketing strategies and public relations programs and
ensures target populations are aware of training and support opportunities provided by

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Reports to the MCCS Director or designated representative.


Acts as an MCCS liaison to the Area Commander and staff of a geographic area of the installation under
cognizance of the MCCS Director. The MCCS Area Coordinator also serves as a conduit through which the
commander and staff can gain knowledge of, and direct access to, the full spectrum of services offered by
MCCS.
Plans, develops and coordinates MCCS support of active duty military personnel and family needs. Acts as a
liaison between the command and MCCS.
Implements policies or guidance with focus on coordination of programs, services and activities.
Develops, executes and monitors budget for command MCCS support.
Monitors programs and initiates corrective action to ensure unit support by MCCS programs. Develops long
range MCCS support plans.
Coordinates all MCCS marketing, in collaboration with the MCCS Marketing Director, to include designing
effective marketing strategies and public relations program and ensures target populations are aware of training
and support opportunities provided by MCCS.
Provides required reports. Gathers and maintains statistical information as required.
Ensures OPSEC and Privacy Act compliance. Adheres to principles and concepts of the EEO program.
Demonstrates and promotes World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers
and associates, and communicates positively in a courteous and considerate manner. Acknowledges customers
and associates; smiles and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Helps
shape customer and associates expectations. Inspires and sustains the trust and confidence of customers,
associates, colleagues, senior management and subordinates. Checks for satisfaction with the quality of goods
and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor or proper point of
contact for help when problems arise.
Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment, and observes safe work
procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or
property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.

This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required. Performs other related
duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Four years experience which demonstrates knowledge of the following:
demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing; ability to maintain effective
working relationships with all levels of employees, both inside and outside the organization; coalition building
skills and sufficient experience to effectively establish cooperative relationships with military and civilian
personnel at all levels. Knowledge of the full spectrum of services offered by MCCS. Ability to establish
realistic long and short-term goals and objectives, set achievable deadlines and react quickly to changing
priorities. Must possess strong customer service skills and be able to tactfully communicate with all levels of
the military and civilian community. Must have experience working independently. Must have ability to
gather, assemble and analyze information, draw conclusions and devise solutions to problem areas.
Must be able to accommodate flexible work schedule to include weekend and nighttime briefs/programs. Must
be able to travel in order to support MCCS functions.
