Vice President (Communications & Democracy), July 2010 – Present
University of Huddersfield Students’ Union
During the final year of study at the University of Huddersfield I ran for, and was elected as, one
of the five Vice Presidents of its Students’ Union. This was a demanding job, requiring me to
communicate with students from an array of backgrounds and cultures on a daily basis –
representing the 23,000+ students enrolled on courses at the institution.
I was required to write press releases and publicity, communicating with local, regional and
national media to deliver the Union’s stance on topical debates, such as higher education
funding and the tuition fees debate.
