White Belt Course Outline: (Reviewer)

Taekwondo: Korean martial art of self-defense.


Tae: to kick, strike, and jump with the foot or feet.
Kwon: to punch, block and strike with the hands or fist.
Do: the art or the way

Terminologies:

Charyeot : Attention Joonbi : Ready


Chungye : Bow Sabumnin : Teacher
Shijak : Start Keuman : Stop

Blocks

1.Fist Block: 1.downwardblock 2.double arms middle block 3.upper block.


2.Knife Block: 1.knife hand block 2. knife hand middle block.

Neck Chop: Basic / Reverse

Striking areas of the Foot: 1. instep 2.ball foot 3.heel 4.sole.


Striking areas of the Fist: 1.forefist 2.backfist 3.hammer fist.
Striking areas of the Open Hand: 1.blade 2.fingers 3.ridge 4.palm

Stances: 1.ready or joonbi 2.horseriding 3.forward

Levels in Taekwondo:
1. White: Beginner
2. Yellow & Blue: Novice/Intermediate
3. Red & Brown: Advance
4. Black: Expert or Master
 The highest level of blackbelt or “DAN” a practitioner of Taekwondo can
attain is 9.

Three Step Self – Defense

1. side step to the right, knife hand block/reverse neck chop, and basic neck chop
strike.

body.

4. side step to the left left hand parry, double punch to the body.
5. fighting stance,left side kick to the body.

Basic Combination Kicks

1. 45 – 45 3. 45 – out in - 45
2. 45 - front kick – 45 4. Front kick -side kick - 45

 The continued development and propagation of Taekwondo in the country is


being supervised under the Philippine Taekwondo Association(PTA) with
Grandmaster Sung Chon Hong being its Chief-Instructor and Vice-President.
The sport is considered an Olympic event with it being held in the Olympiad
of 1988 in Seoul, Korea and 1992 in Barcelona, Spain as a Demonstration
Sport. It has been an official Olympic Sport for the 2000 Sydney, 2004
Athens, and 2008 Beijing Olympics.
