SCENARIO

SinhCafe Travel is one of Vietnam’s leading travel and tour companies. Sinhcafe
Travel is a private owned enterprise which operates under International travel
licence from Vietnam National Tourism Department. With offices in Hanoi in the
north, Danang in the centre and Ho Chi Minh City in the south, they have been
working together with, and providing quality service to, tour operators and clients
throughout the world. Visitors from the US, Canada, Australia, France, Germany,
Norway and Finland, to name a few, have been treated to an array of tours ranging
from cultural to ecological tours to any tailor-made tour imaginable.
Competitive prices, personable and professional guides are very important to
company success. SinhCafe offer a full service of tourism products from car rental to
flight reservations to bus tickets to hotels, restaurants and visas. The company also
work with customers/visitors to create a truly memorable visit to Vietnam.

With the good reputation and specialization in the following fields:

SinhCafe Travel is currently planning to enhance its computerized information


systems for market development and customer relationship management. Assume
that you are employed as a Customer Development Manager, reporting to the
Customer Development Director. You are required to evaluate the information,
knowledge and decisions which are vital for success of the business and creating
awareness and interest on the company products i.e. tour packages. It is also
important that your department’s strategies are aligned with those of corporate
strategies of SinhCafe Travel. You are then required to complete the following tasks
and write a report to your Director on the findings.

Task 1:
 Identify different ranges of decisions that may be taken by different
managerial levels in your department. (1 a)
 Review some of the information and knowledge that you may require to
ensure that the above decisions are effective. (1 b)
 Identify, assess, and justify your internal and external sources of information
that you have to gather – such as formal and informal, primary and secondary
(including official and unofficial sources) and others. (1 c)
 Your director has asked you to recommend for improvements in making
decisions at your department and organization. Provide your
recommendations with reasons. (1 d)

Task 2:

 Identify possible stakeholders (including experts) of Sinhcafe Travel. Design


a questionnaire related to the awareness and interests on Sinhcafe Travel
tour packages. Make contact with 30 stakeholders and collect required
information. Analyse your finding and prepare a presentation to your director
on your compiled data to justify those identified in the signed questionnaire as
appropriate for your day-to-day decision making and building business
relationship with stakeholders. Use suitable graphs, tables and provide
conclusions. (2 a, b, c)

 Based on the above tasks (2 a, b, and c), recommend appropriate business


strategies and information systems for improvements at Sinhcafe Travel. (2 d)

Note that your compilation should include a content page, sign questionnaires and
any other relevant presentation slides as appendices to assist you in writing your
report.

Pass is achieved by meeting all the requirements defined in the assessment

PRESENTATION

1. The assignment should have a cover page that includes the assignment title,
assignment number, course title, module title, Lecturer/tutor name and
