    Due: Wednesday, June 24 
    Requirements: 1 double‐spaced page 

    Directions:  
    • Come up with a research problem—an issue you will propose to study this 
    semester. Make sure it is sociological, and something that you are interested in. 
    • Think ahead to the research proposal due at the end of the summer. It will be 
    advantageous to think of a research problem that you can use in your proposal. 
    Could you do surveys, interviews, and a content analysis for this problem? 
    • State your research problem and why you are interested in it in 1‐2 paragraphs. 

    • Come up with 3 possible research questions for this problem. Think about “process” 
    questions (how?) and “explanation” questions (why?). 

    • State in 1 paragraph what biases and values you may be approaching this research 
    with.
