Slovakia 2010: A Year in Pictures Key

1. Here are a group of boys at Youth Alpha. During this course, we shared testimony about Christ and
the basics about Christianity. At the end of the course, 12 teens accepted Christ!
2. This is the beginnings of the Sala Church plant. We were only a small group meeting in a living
room, but now we have grown to 20 people!
3. Baby C! Due to make an appearance around mid-May, 2011
4. Christina with a group of teens at Youth Club: HoreNohami (Upside Down)
5. James and Christina in the Summer
6. We started public services in Spring 2010 in a Community Leisure Centre. We are now beginning
negotiations for a rental contract for a building we would be able to use 24/7, not just a couple days a
week.
7. Youth Club games. This boy, Tono, lost his brother in a tragic drowning accident, please remember
him in your prayers.
8. Christina’s birthday party in September, she celebrated by introducing Swiss Raclette to her group of
friends! It was much enjoyed!
9. Christina speaking about missions at a ACET Outreach in the nearby town of Nove Zamky. ACET
does presentations in schools on sex, drugs and AIDS from a Christian perspective.
10. James practices fatherhood with the stuffed monkey. You have to start somewhere!
11. In the Fall we began a youth worship night called Bageta, and once a month, we join together with
the Bageta group in Nove Zamky for Bageta United. These meetings are fun, but also have a good
word and a good time of worship in song.
12. Day Camp! This summer we had nearly 30 kids come out to our Daily Kids Camp which was hosted
by a family from the UK. They had a lot of fun and got to learn about Christ too!
13. Our ‘hang out’ night. This is a good forum for us to build relationships with these guys.
14. Christina’s ordination service in Jerusalem, Israel at the 2010 PAOC Eurasia Retreat. It was a
powerful moment that we shall not forget.
15. Moving out! Our landlord did not renew our rental agreement for 2011, so we had to find another
place to live. We were blessed with great friends who helped us move.
16. Concerts is one way we use to reach out into our community. This is Mark Staniford at our annual I
Love My City Campaign in Nitra. We have also had Dweeb and hope to have others soon!
17. I Love My City Campaign. This year at our annual outreach in Nitra, we had two Canadian teams
join up with our Slovak team to rejuvenate a playground, play sports with neighbourhood kids, do a
Kids Corner, an English Camp, a Sports Camp, a Kids Camp, paint a fence and do some repairs at a
Community Centre and even got to be on local TV!
18. Christina preaching at the Youth worship night, Bageta. She also preaches regularly at the church
plant meetings.
19.Settling in to our new place! God has provided us with a nice little 1 bedroom home in a village near
Sala. We have been meeting our neighbours and have even already hosted a church meeting in our
living room when the Community Leisure Centre was closed over Christmas.
