----------
The car can be driven with the keyboard arrow keys or the joystick. Joystick is
selected and calibrated from
Win95 Control Panel. Use joystick number one only.
Non Direct Input Devices:
For input devices that require calibration from a custom control panel (like the
Gravis Exterminator), it will be necessary for the player to calibrate the stic
k before playing SCGT.
Joysticks & Network Games
It is possible that IRQ conflicts with an input device can result in synch loss
during network games. If you are consistently losing synch in network games, try
unplugging your joystick to see if the problem disappears. If it does, you may
have to manually set the IRQ for the device.
Synch loss has been seen with the following devices:
Advanced Gravis 3 buttons stick
Thrustmaster Grand Prix 1

The following joysticks are known to be compatible with Sports Car.

Improving Frame Rate
--------------------
If you are experiencing frame rate problems, it is probably the result of poor i
ntegration between DirectX
and your video card drivers. Please be sure you have the latest versions of your
video drivers and DirectX.
We have included many of the latest drivers and the latest version of DirectX on
the Sports Car GT CD. These
can be found in the \Drivers folder. We recommend you try the following to impro
ve your frame rate:
1. Be sure to close all applications before running Sports Car.
2. Turn your track detail down in the Options / Graphics tab of the game menu.
3. Turn your vehicle detail down in the Options / Graphics tab of the game menu.
4. If your video board has under 8 mgb of ram turn texture memory to high.
5. If your video board has under 4 mgb of ram turn texture memory to med or low.
6. Turn off wet car reflections.
7. Lower the resolution in the Options / Graphics menu tab.
8. Reduce the number of opponents.
9. Turn sound quality to 11Khz.
10. Background tasks such as Microsoft Office's FastFind or Task Scheduler may c
ause sporadic slowdowns in the game.
11. Turn off as many of the on screen displays (HUD, lap/timer display, position
al grid) as possible.
12. Network games using wet or night in software mode have the potential to run
very slowly.
13. To improve frame rate in mulitplayer games, the Host should lower the networ
k data rate.
14. If slowdowns or synchronization problems persist in multiplayer games, lower
the overall number of human and AI players to no more than 6 players total unti
l the problem is eliminated.
15. Turn off CD music. CD music and partial installations can cause slowdowns.
16. Do a complete installation of the game if possible for optimal performance.
Direct 3D
---------
With an appropriate accelerator, running the game in Direct 3D mode will provide
the player with a variety of
graphics options in the game. If you notice graphical problems (missing vehicle
textures, track detail
problems, etc...), it will be necessary to tune the graphics settings to work pr
operly with your video card.
If textures are missing, turn down the Texture Quality setting until the problem
disappears.
Direct 3D and 3DFX
------------------
If both Direct 3D and 3DFX modes are available, it is highly recommend that you
run the game in 3DFX mode.
However, if you choose to run the game in Direct 3D mode via your 3DFX board, yo
u may notice more resolution options
available to you. Be advised that choosing these higher resolutions may cause gr
aphical problems. If you have multiple
3D capable video cards, the game chooses the main video card for Direct 3D suppo
rt (if it's capable) and provides Glide
support for 3DFX based accelerator cards.
ATI
---
Cards included:
ATI 3D Xpression.
Do not try to run anything more than 4 cars on low/low/low detail settings.
ATI RAGE II C AGP
SCGT is not compatible with this video card.
ATI 3D Rage Pro Turbo AGP
If players experience any instability with this card, they should lower their re
solution and detail levels until the problems disappear. Refer to the Improving
Frame Rate section above for tips on what to do. SCGT is unstable

If problems with transparencies are seen, try activating the Alternate Alpha
Blending option in the Graphics Tab. If this does not help, visit the Matrox
website for driver updates.
Millenium G200
The game has difficulty displaying in 1024x768 on some systems. If crashing or
graphics problems occur, drop the resolution to 800x600 and follow the steps pro
vided
in the Improving the Frame Rate section above. Smacker files seem to have occas
ional
problems displaying on systems with the G200.

RIVA 128/128ZX General Notes:
Users playing Sports Car GT with Nvidia based Riva 128 and 128ZX 3D accelerators
may notice problems displaying smoke and lighting effects.
Try using the Alternate Alpha Blend option in the SCGT's graphics option screens
. If user's notice that textures are
missing from the cars and tracks, make sure that the box that says "Don't use sq
uare texture maps" found in the RIVA 128
tab of the Display Properties control panel is left blank. If your board manufac
turer does not provide you with a control
panel, players may load the Nvidia Riva 128 reference drivers found on Nvidia we
bsite at http://www.nvidia.com.

Player may experience problems in D3D mode if the graphics levels are turned
up too high. We recommend that players run the game at 640x480 resolution with
the other graphics options set no higher than the HIGH setting.
Cyrix Media GX Processors
-------------------------
Players may experience instability in multiplayer games and some other
graphics anomalies. Check the Cyrix website for possible audio/video driver
updates for these systems.
Sound
-----
SCGT has known incompatiblities with the ESS Technologies Maestro 1 sound card.

III.Troubleshooting
----------------------
Known Issues
1. Replays from other versions of this product will not work with this release.
For example: Do not mix demo and
retail replay files.
2. Partial installs and CD music may cause severe slow downs.
3. Pulling into the pits at too high of speeds may cause you to hit the wall whe
n
the automatic pit stop takes over.
4. Using force feedback on some joysticks may cause your frame rate to drop; thi
s is
due to limitations of the hardware interface.
5. Partial installs can cause game slowdowns and frame rate drops as
the machine loads appropriate
sound effects and music off the CD. For optimal game performance, use the Maximu
m
installation.
6. Wet reflections are not available in software mode in single player games sin
ce
both wet weather and night conditions are unavailable. In multiplayer games, thi
s
restriction is not imposed on players in software mode.
Be advised that severe frame rate slowdowns are likely if you attempt to play we
t or
night tracks in software mode.
7. A very limited number of users who use ALT+TAB to go back to the Windows Desk
top
have had problems getting back into the game.
8. Do not try to install SCGT to the Windows directory. This will interfere with
the proper installation of SCGT's .dll files.
9. Check the web site occasionally for possible game assisting codes.
10. Players who want to have multiplayer races on wet/night tracks may have trou
ble running the game with six players. We recommend four players total (human +
AI) when playing in wet/night races.
Multiplayer Known Issues
1. SCGT does NOT support internet play. While it may be possible to play SCGT ov
er
high speed internet connections (T1, T3, ADSL, Cable Modem, etc ), we make no guar
antee
that players will be able to make the kind of sustained low latency connections
necessary
for good gameplay. Users who attempt this do so at their own risk.
2. SCGT supports multiplayer games for up to 6 players only over standard local
area networks.
Anything greater than 6 players can cause synchronization issues and possible cr
ashes.
Dedicated LANs may be able to support more players. Users who attempt to play wi
th more than
six players do so at their own risk.
3. To improve frame rate in a multiplayer game, turn down the network data rate.
