INTRODUCTION
ISO 9001:2008 Lead Auditor Course teaches the principles and practices of effective Quality
Management Systems and process audits in accordance with the ISO 9001:2008 standard.
This is an intense, advanced level course intended for those who want to get a more
comprehensive and in-depth appreciation of the knowledge and skills required to plan,
manage and perform the activities associated with third party Quality Management System
Audits.

This course, based on the ISO 9001:2008 standard, commences with a review of the key
requirements of the standard, and then through a series of interactive exercises, covers each
stage of the audit process in detail, from defining the audit objectives, roles and
responsibilities, planning and preparing the audit, conducting and reporting the audit, through
follow-up on any corrective actions. This course is certified by International Register of
Certificated Auditors (IRCA), UK

Experienced instructors guide participants through the entire audit process, from managing
an audit program to reporting on audit results. Participants gain necessary auditing skills
through a balance of formal classroom tutorials, practical role-playing, group workshops, and
open forum discussions.

This course is designed to give delegates the knowledge and skills to enable them to
competently audit Quality Management System against the requirements of ISO 9001:2008.
The course presents the most up to date approaches to auditing and utilizes case studies,
workshops and accelerated learning to allow delegates to apply and practice their knowledge
and skill throughout all the main phases of audit process.

Students who successfully complete this ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System Lead
Auditor Course certified by IRCA will satisfy the training requirements for certification as an
IRCA Certified ISO 9001:2008 QMS Lead Auditor.

COURSE MATERIALS
Participants receive comprehensive course manuals with reference materials, including a
copy of ISO 9001:2008 (with pre-course materials) and copy of ISO 19011:2002.

COURSE CONTENTS
· Introduce the purpose and benefits of a Quality Management System, evolution of the
ISO 9001 series of standards, the continuing development process of these standards
and key ISO 9001 related concepts and terminology.
· The 8 Quality Management Principles, their application and potential benefits. Explain
the structure, purpose, content and interrelationship of ISO 9000, ISO 9001, ISO 9004
and ISO 19011 and the difference between auditable standards and guidance
documents.
· Discuss and explain the requirements of the ISO 9001 on a clause-by clause basis, and
its relationship with ISO 9004 and the 8 Quality Management Principles to enhance
understanding.
· Explain the value of documentation, the documentation flexibility and circumstances of
exclusion of the ISO 9001 requirements and the Process-based Quality Management
system Model.
· Describe the certification/registration and accreditation processes, types of audits (1st,
2nd and 3rd party) and the differences between legal compliance and conformance with
ISO standards.
· How to develop and use key audit tools like Matrix of Requirements, Process Approach
Audit Checklist & Audit Plan, CAR to enable “value added” QMS audit.
· How to plan and prepare, conduct, report and follow-up QMS audits based on the
“Process Approach” & “PDCA” audit Trail. Discuss various Audit Methodology, Audit
Psychology, Questioning Techniques, Roles and Responsibility to collect and analyze
evidence, exercise objectivity and make decisions on the significance of findings made in
accordance to relevant audit criteria.
· Local requirements, culture, practices or approaches to auditing and the application of
ISO 9001, as appropriate for each country in which the course is being presented.
· Outline IRCA Auditor Certification requirements.
· Key Features used in the latest IRCA’s “Accelerated Learning Approach” to optimize
learning cycle: pre-course e-introduction module, animations, graphics, sounds & music,
practical industrial examples, quizzes & sample outputs, live audit/simulated audit &
practical workshops.
COURSE ASSESSMENT
Delegates are assessed by the tutor throughout the course by continual assessment and by
way of a written examination towards the end of the course. Continual assessment is
undertaken by the tutor and is based upon the participant’s demonstrable performance
during the exercises, role-plays, case study and question and answer session. It is essential
that participants take an active part in all course activities during the course in order that the
tutor can make a full assessment of the participant’s performance.
The written examination is of 2 hours duration. Copies of the Course Manual, any personal
notes made by the delegate during the course, plus a copy of the ISO 9001:2008 Standard
may be taken into the examination. Candidates obtaining 70% or more marks in examination
will be awarded the certificate of successful completion as an IRCA Certified ISO 9001:2008
QMS Lead Auditor.

TRAINING METHODOLOGY
This class room based course is highly interactive using Accelerated Learning Techniques
allowing delegates to maximize their own learning styles and also allowing good interaction
and participant-to-participant knowledge sharing. Power Point Slides and other multimedia
materials will be used throughout the course.

COURSE DURATION
The course duration is 5 days (40 Hours) as per schedule provided with course material.

INVESTMENT
Rs.20,000/- per participant. Course Fee includes copy of course material, ISO 9001:2008
Standards and tea / biscuits & Lunch. 100% of payment shall be made in advance through
Cheque (at par)/DD drawn in favour of “INFOMASYS” payable at TIRUR.

CERTIFICATE
Participants who successfully complete the continuous assessment during the course and
the written examination which will be conducted on the last day of the course will be awarded
IRCA approved Certificate.
