In the medical field there are types of abortion. There is one which is
therapeutically performed to save the life of a mother and her future pregnancies. It
is called Therapeutic Abortion. Another type is an expulsion of the fetus due to
accident, trauma or any biological causes. This is called Spontaneous Abortion or
Miscarriage. These 2 types are carefully studied in the medical field in terms of
ethics, are acceptable, and are not frightening to cringe.
The success rate for a “survivor” sperm to penetrate into a healthy ovum is
99.9%.
The highest number of sexually active individuals with the most incidences of
unwanted pregnancy is in the young adolescents’ bracket of our population
according to POPCOM.
There are tall, tall tales of back-alley abortion methods in the street. Like:
1. Prickling
2. Lifting
3. Jumping
4. Douching softdrinks
5. Popping an illegal ulcer drug
7. Suction
Fetuses that are successfully expelled are often seen in public comfort rooms,
garbage cans, rivers and some unlikely places. Most of the time you’ll find a
wrapped object in church bathrooms and voila! it is human. This notion of leaving
the dead fetus in the premise of the church come from the idea that fetus can
directly go to heaven. Unlikely.
Having such legends still present in our country, there is a reason why we are
judged as underdeveloped, third-world, or backward. That is why the call to have
Reproductive Health is a great need.
The deal with the HB 5043 Reproductive Health is that it doesn’t advocate
abortion but aims to make it a thing of the past. Reduced, stopped, or obsolete.
Now, there has been a lot of commotion between the Church and the State
about this matter. Arguments have been raised that the bill is pro-abortion and thus
it is deemed unconstitutional. There have been judgments on the authors
Honorables Edcel C. Lagman, Janette Garin, Anna Hontiveros-Baraquel, et al that
they have become heretics and such. That grey cloud above our heads must be
cleared up. These judgments are from misconceptions. If you read and understand
the bill, it is well- written and there isn’t any hint of it being pro-abortion. All
conditions state in there is as clear as day. The sole concern for the bill is purely to
generate Health in a very moral manner.
I am anti-abortion because “it makes me sick”. That slang purely defines how
terrible it is. Abortion isn’t the only option. After 9 months, a woman can give up the
child for adoption if the responsibility for having him/her is heavy. Although…In the
first place, why would one have reckless sex. Think about it first before everything
is too late.
