Winter weather slams South with snow, icy roads
Good day, Mr. Rearden. I think I must tell you that the State
Science Institute may issue an official statement condemning
Rearden Metal.
Ayn Rand wrote ATLAS S HRUGGED and acknowledged Aristotle and her
husband, Frank O’Connor. “I knew what values of character I wanted
to find in a man. I trust that no one will tell me that men such as I
write about don’t exist. That this book has been written – and
published – is my proof that they do.”
Political hacks have wasted little time in exploiting the tragic shooting of Democratic Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords to
demonize their political opposition despite the gunman’s motivation being completely unknown at this time.
Huffington Post has already blamed the shooting on second amendment activists who held a meeting last year to
discuss ways of politically defeating Giffords. They are also hyping speculation that a semi-automatic weapon was used.
Before it was even clear whether or not Giffords had survived, neo-lib statists were already shamelessly milking the shocking
events for political gain. Our forum members also report that CNN’s David Fitsimmons is using the shooting to demonize
“fringe” politics.

Tucson rampage
The Left has produced an expected and consistent response to the tragedy: place blame, make accusations and act self-
righteously.
It is true that Arizona has seen political turmoil amid failures of the federal government to secure our borders; incursions by
drug cartels; violence and economic adversity. It is also true that huge growth of central government is opposed by a
majority of Americans – and ObamaCare is one of several key issues.
But we must be also appalled by the news template that fosters animosity and fuels a false Us vs. Them atmosphere.
Gabrielle Giffords, 40, was among lawmakers who reported 42 threats or acts or vandalism in the first
three months of 2010, a big increase over the previous year, law enforcement officers said. Nearly all the threats dealt with
the massive health care bill that Giffords and other Democrats enacted over fierce Republican opposition.
In March, someone kicked in or shot out a glass door and side window at Giffords' office in Tucson, a few hours after the
House passed the health care measure with her help.

Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik said tonight investigators are "not convinced" alleged gunman Jared Lee Loughner
acted alone when the 22-year-old shot Giffords and killed six others outside a Tucson Safeway this morning.
Newly elected House Speaker John Boehner said he was horrified by the shooting.
"An attack on one who serves is an attack on all who serve. Acts and threats of violence against public officials have no
place in our society," Boehner said. "Our prayers are with Congresswoman Giffords, her staff, all who were injured, and their
families. This is a sad day for our country."
Establishment Media Demonizes Tea Party and Constitutionalists After Giffords Shooting
Kurt Nimmo

Get ready for the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords to be used in a serious way against the Tea Party movement. MSNBC,
CNN and the rest of the Mockingbird media are now attempting to portray millions of Americans as violence prone anti-
government radicals.
In the hours following the shooting liberal bloggers blamed Sarah Palin’s mid-term election rhetoric for the Gifford shooting.
Palin’s campaign organization, SarahPac, posted an ad targeting Democrat Giffords for defeat during the election. The
liberal blogosphere is directly accusing Palin of stoking hatred against the Arizona Congresswoman that led to the shooting in
a Tucson parking lot.
Daily Kos and FireDogLake have taken up the charge and are blaming Palin directly. Sarah Palin is not an anti-government
radical; “she is part of the establishment Republican party and to accuse her of calling for the assassination of Gifford is
ludicrous.
The word target is a well established part of the Democrat-Republican political lexicon.
In a Tweet, suspected CIA operative Markos Moulitsas of Daily Kos wrote sarcastically: “Mission accomplished, Sarah
Palin.”
Arizona Democrat Rep. Raul Grijalva denounced what he describes as a political environment poisoned by “anger, hatred,
and division.” Grijalva blamed the Tea Party movement: [When] you stoke these flames, and you go to public meetings and
you scream at the elected officials, you threaten them “you make us expendable you make us part of the cannon fodder. For
a while, you’ve been feeding this hatred, this division you feed it, you encourage it. Something’s going to happen. People are
feeding this monster. Some of the extreme right wing has made demonization of elected officials their priority.
In other words when citizens victimized by a predatory and arrogant government angrily confront their so-called
representatives, it is tantamount of calling for violence and assassination.

mentioned in this article and volunteer. If you know a Cobb resident, please pass on this
information.
The Cobb 2011 SPLOST will probably cost taxpayers at least $600 million. It can be
defeated.

The $492 million estimate that a new SPLOST would bring in over four years is the
number given by Cobb government officials. They have deliberately underestimated
what SPLOST will bring in.$584
Currently, the Cobb SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) brings in $146
million for the Cobb govt. and the school SPLOST brings in the same amount, since both
are 1% taxes on all purchases and utility bills.
That is almost $100 million more than the Cobb govt. estimate.
Could it be they don't want to say this SPLOST will cost taxpayers more than half a
billion dollars?
Next meeting is Thursday, January 13, 2011, 6:30 pm at The Golden Corral on Jonesboro Rd McDonough.

I always hope that your contributors will actually speak of the issues; you know, "I don't like President Obama's
stimulus plan because, in spite of the fact that an overwhelming majority of economists say it was necessary and
successful, I have this data that I find important..." You know - facts.
On a local level, they usually do; on a national level, I'm usually disappointed.
For instance in Newsletter #239, Under "Incompetence", I could practically hear the contributor squeal with delight as
he offers some sort of proof of the President's incompetence: that very few of Obama's cabinet have been in "a real life
business, not a government job".
Good Lord....
First of all, if you'd look a little bit past comedian Glen Beck, you'd find that the person who reported that data - Michael
Cembalest, the chief investment officer for J.P. Morgan Private Bank - has admitted that the report is flawed to the point
that he'll never try anything like that again. He did it wrong! It's not accurate! It doesn't mean anything!
Second - did you REALLY say that someone who has only had a government job "has never had one"? You did, and I
think you owe an apology to every soldier, sailor, police officer, fireman, postal employee, teacher, mental health
worker and bureaucrat that has ever handled any of your life on paper.
This is the part that really bothers me - my father-in-law was career Army - twenty years. That's a government job,
right? As opposed to a "real life business"? Should have he forsaken his work for the government and instead been in
an employment line? If he and others like him had, we'd be speaking Russian by now. Never had a job? Really?
You insulted all of those people based on a flawed study probably reported to you by a comedian. Your arrogance as
you play this "gotcha" nonsense offends me and makes me feel sorry for you. Talk about policy if you want to talk
about politics, not what you heard on the radio. Surely you realize you have no business criticizing people who go to
work every day - just as you do - doing what they can to provide for their families. For instance, the firefighter who
might save your life next week doesn't do his job any differently based on who the president is, but he will put HIS life
on the line as you speak up for the millionaires and throw people like him under the bus because he's dedicated to
helping people as opposed to generating profit.
Is that all of YOUR superior business experience talking? If so, I'll take the wisdom of community organizers any day.
At least they don't insult working people like my father-in-law.
Mike

The citizens of Cobb County know a good rip off when they see it, and they are looking at one with the SPLOST tax.
That money would be better left in the pockets of the taxpayer rather than in the pockets of the politicians in Cobb
County. " AX THE TAX AND VOTE EARLY !! "
~~~~~
Sir, the Tea Party is not against taxes. Tea Partiers understand that some taxes are necessary. The questions are, how
much government do we need and want? And how much should that government cost?
I submit to you that a take-off and landing strip for model airplanes is not a necessity. That was a SPLOST project until
it was publicly exposed.
I submit to you that "dark box" theater for the flunked out Barnes, Mabel House Amphitheater is not a necessity. That
was a SPLOST project until it was publicly exposed. (The Barnes Mable House fiasco cost nearly $10 million to build and
loses about $1 million annually).
I submit to you that covering a flood plain with artificial turf and calling it a park is not a necessity. That was a SPLOST
project until it was publicly exposed.
Sales taxes affect everyone, yes they do. If you are over 62 and drawing social security, like my mother and father, it
affects you. Better think about that.
Vote NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!
~~~~~
I knew it wouldn't take long for a proponent to say that the guaranteed result of a failed SPLOST vote is raised property
taxes. Guess what, my property taxes went up last year with no change in value assessment.
I cannot directly control how much property taxes I pay, I can have direct input by voting NO on the SPLOST.
Signing up to pay additional taxes for items that should be covered in the general budget is idiotic.
Has Christmas become a cult or has it been one all along? Let me define cult. A cult is giving regard with great
respect; to revere a particular figure or object, such as a new religious movement whose beliefs or practices are
considered strange and given to ritualistic practices. Personal belief is emphasized. The differences between mainline
religions and cults is just that, one that is either recognizable or one that is not distinguished or perceived as Christian.
The argument is not whether some movement is religious or not. No, the matter at question is whether it is Christian
or not. The monotheistic belief system based on the life giving sacrifice of the Savior, Jesus Christ being the only
efficacious remedy for reconciling God with man is known as Christianity. That this Jesus was God in the flesh, come to
save mankind from sin’s penalty and eventual destiny in eternal fire is greatly propagated as intrinsic to this religious
system. Christmas was to be the celebration of His advent.
As Jesus is core to the beliefs in Christianity, Santa Claus has become core to Christmas. Is Christmas possible without
either or both? That would depend on one’s particular bend toward truth or fiction, and one’s psychology toward the
necessity in believing, whether in fact or fantasy. And maybe Christmas has become the alternative to Christianity in
that Christmas has taken on a novel and unusual identity; it exists with a spokesman and not a savior. Its frontman is
Claus, not Christ.
Christmas is now associated with seasons and times. It is a date on the calendar and not an event. It is a respite from
labor or work much like that of a federal holiday, which is not a holy day but a day of festivity or recreation away from
one’s workplace made into a public observance. December 25th is an official public holiday. It affects people
worldwide, not as a particularly religious occurrence, but that of a financial fixation.
Christmas is a traditional holiday in that many traditions have come to surface because of it being observed in many
different ways. Lights and trees decorated, meals and banquets prepared, gifts and presents exchanged, charity and
donations shared unlike any other time, emotional highs and lows, expectations and disappointments in family and
friends, and that festive feeling that comes because its Christmas are all part and parcel of this ceremonial experience.
And now add the many other religious entities that want a piece of the action, and the outpouring is an elixir for the
demise of the Christian’s speculative ideal that Christmas is Christian.
So, what is all of the hype and headlines about the real meaning of Christmas? If anyone really knew, would they
celebrate any differently? Would it affect them differently when no one is looking, when the Christmas season has
ended and the rest of life is lived? Can Christians be Christian in their attitudes and activities away from the spotlight of
Christmas?
Christmas is not an occurrence, it is an event; an event worth celebrating because Christ changes people; He gives life
where death prevailed; He gives hope where despair presumed; He gives appeasement where sin prescinded; He is the
Gift given by God. And all of the hubbub about Christmas doesn’t change that at all.
So, has His coming changed you? If so, then don’t wait for a number on a calendar to celebrate, or a season in
December to have the joy of Christ exude from your heart; honor His advent every day and expect His return with
greater expectation.
