KS2 Departmental Meeting

Date: Monday 10th January 2011

Items on Agenda

• Assembly, hall, ICT, playground rota, etc. for Spring term

All rotas were looked at : new playground, assembly, hall, etc. rota (see
attached)
Assembly format was discussed including when it is appropriate to make
the sign of the cross.
Year group masses to be organised between Feb half term and end of
Summer (All year groups 3 – 6). Please see protocol to follow for using
church.

• Setting up peer observations

Weeks decided for these to be carried out in
W/c : 17th Jan – Y3
W/c : 24th Jan – Y4
W/c : 31st Jan – Y5
W/c : 14th Feb – y6

Year group staff are to discuss with me what they would like to observe in
their year group partner’s lesson and to arrange times for me to cover.
Teachers will plan lesson together, observe and review in year groups.

• Hall and corridor displays – including RE board

Art related to topics being covered this term in hall and to be completed by
11th Feb
Corridors – no theme but related to work in class (also to be completed by
Feb 11th)
RE board – Y3 this term
Board by ICT suite – Holocaust Memorial (Margaret to organise)
Language of the Term : Lithuanian, staff to ensure that this is displayed in
classrooms. Cate has packs to send round.
Dee to cover end board in sky blue colour. Dave has bricks completed
about anti-bullying from last term.

• Monitoring timetable
Timetable discussed and all staff in agreement with this (see attached)
It is important that we are all aware of deadlines for various subject
leaders and to stick to them.
We held a lengthy discussion about planning, the possible introduction of
IPC. We feel that once a decision has been made about IPC we then
need to have a working party to discuss and decide on planning formats to
be used in the school.
 • Data Input – aspirational targets for the end of the year
Discussion about aspirational targets and that they needed to be set at the
end of last term. Also reminder to ensure that sp & l and science to be
completed ASAP

• Performance Management Observations & Reviews (reminder)

Line managers were reminded to make observation dates with staff and to
liaise with me about cover.

• Staff meeting dates

All staff happy with these but Roisin and Deirdre would like to change
PSHE for PE. They are contacting Pat Wire to come in and lead INSET.
Roisin mentioned that there is also the possibility of Pat coming in 1 day
per week (free of charge) to lead netball and games with some year
groups. Roisin will follow up on this.

• AOB
Staff meetings – KS2 staff would very much like to try and stick to a 3.30
start not 3.40. I said that I would pass this onto Delia.

Additional Information

Year group mass

Each year group (3-6) will have a class mass in the church
between February half term and the end of the Summer
term.
These will be in addition to the end of term and end of
year Leavers Mass

Please note the protocol for arranging these.

• The teacher leading the mass must phone Father
Paul, in person, to arrange a date for the mass and to
discuss the theme of the mass.
• An appointment to go and see Father Paul should be
made to meet with him and to go through the mass.
• Check times and days which are convenient with the
Parish to use the church for practices.
