PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Limited (IPCL), Gujarat Jun 1999–May 2002
IPCL is an Rs 94 billion petrochemical giant part of the Reliance Group. Its business consists of polymers, synthetic fiber and
fiber intermediates. IPCL owns and operates three petrochemical complexes and a catalyst manufacturing facility.
Marketing Officer
• Led a team of 4 members for Rs 8bn High density Polyethylene (HDPE), being considered as the most difficult polymer
to market having 45 grades, 8 product segments, manufactured by all the domestic petrochemical players.
• Responsible for formulating and implementing Marketing and business plans that included pricing and policy, production
scheduling, product distribution, monitoring realization and business development of HDPE.
• Initiated market research reports and bulletins covering entire fiber and fiber intermediate chain.
• Nominated to team responsible for deemed exports of Rs 5.4bn product: Monoethylene Glycol (MEG) product.
• Coordinated restructuring assignment of IPCL marketing with PwC consulting team. Provided adequate support and
information on polymer business to consulting team.
Achievements
• Awarded ‘IPCL’s Best Young Officer Award’ 2001-02 among 200 officers.
• Achieved ever highest Gross Sales revenue (Rs 8bn) in 2001-02 for HDPE product group resulting in 12% growth as
compared to an average industry growth of 8%.
• Rationalized grades from 45 to 15 resulting in reduction in production loss and inventory carrying savings of
Rs 12mn/month and targeted high realization locations resulting in gain of Rs 8mn/month.
• Led the fastest ERP implementation in the HDPE product group. Developed User Requirement Specifications (with
CMC), designed the “to-be” processes and systems, organized training of employees, designed implementation schedule
and coordinated all communication.
Projects
Opportunity in HDPE optical fiber ducts Market
• Explored various ways to tap the opportunity in the optical fiber ducts market and based on study findings new grade of
HDPE was introduced in the market resulting in additional revenue of Rs 35mn/month for IPCL.
Sensitivity Analysis for MEG plants
• Sensitivity analysis of MEG plants across the world operating on different feed stocks to determine the cost
competitiveness. Based on analysis export of MEG scheduled to reduce the impact of fluctuation in international market
prices and to improve margins.
Overview of Indian Polyester Market
• Studied the polyester market in India and determined the financial status of MEG customers, Textile mills, looms etc. to
evaluate the credit worthiness of MEG customers. Based on study Key customers for MEG were identified to deal with.

SUMMER INTERNSHIP

• Designed and Implemented a Sales Support process for Enterprises Application services.
• Objective of the process was to make pre-sales activity more structured, simple and process dependent rather than
individual dependent.
• For the first time a proposal tracking module, EVA/ROI/TCO concept was introduced in the proposal phase.
• Best Wipro summer project award among 51 summer interns from Top 10 B-schools in India based on
implementation feasibility and clarity of the subject.

Modeling Buyer Behavior in the Indian Sugar Confectionary Market (Insight 02, 1st year, Team Size: 11)
• Carried out primary and secondary research, and modeled buyer behavior, to evaluate the impact of substitute products on
sales volume of sugar confectionaries. The strategic alternatives generated are being used by Nestle Ltd. for launch of
new products and re-positioning of existing brands.
Communication Strategy for Agha Khan Foundation (SOMA, 2nd year, Team Size: 8)
• Designed the communication strategy for inter office activities and communication with other stakeholders that includes
government agencies and promoters to implement rural development projects effectively under severe resource
constraints.

Full Cost Recovery for water services (Course: Infrastructure Development and Financing)
• Reinforced the feasibility of full cost recovery of water services for Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and studied the
various issues and prospects related to the full cost recovery. Recommended the framework for the full cost recovery
process and steps to be taken by Municipal Corporation.
Logistics Audit of Indian Oil Corporation (Logistics Management)
• Identified issues related to LPG distribution of IOC Gujarat division and suggested alternatives to reduce the impact of
erratic demand and number of cylinders in circulation.
VAT and Implication of Unified sales Tax regime (Sales and Distribution Management)
• Based on the secondary research and interaction with experts determined the impact of VAT and unified sales tax regime.
Suggested various alternatives for maximizing the margins and reducing tax liability for Industries from different sectors
under VAT and Unified Sales tax regime.
Strategy formulation for Wipro Ltd (Course: Strategy Formulation and Implementation)
• Formulated the future strategy of Wipro Ltd to cope with increasing competition and change in technological and legal
environment.
Brand diagnoses of Levi’s Brand (Brand Management)
• Brand diagnoses of Levi’s brand using Aaker’s Brand Personality scale and 16PF psychometric test. Determined the brand
perception of Levi’s die-hard fans and other jeans users to formulate the strategy for increasing the Levi’s sales.
To increase Inpatient occupancy rate: Apollo Hospital (Course: Market Research and Information System)
• Carried out primary and secondary research to determine the factors seek out by patients and practitioners for making
choice of hospital. Determined the target segment and strategy for newly established Apollo Hospital, Ahmedabad to
increase the inpatient occupancy rate.

• Studied the challenges, Issues and strategies of retail apparel management and recommended changes for better store

• Part of Strategy Safari course organized for the first time to get deeper understanding of macro economic factors behind
Malaysia’s success and how to make use of these initiatives in Indian economic environment.
