INTRODUCTION

Deccan 360 is an express transportation and logistics company that

began operations in November 2009. It was founded by Captain
Gopinath, who is known for his revolutionary venture Air Deccan,
which redefined air connectivity in India. Likewise with Deccan 360,
he aspires to revolutionize the country’s logistics and distribution
network.

The primary goal at Deccan 360 is ‘delivering the best possible

services to the customer with our ground-breaking express
solutions’. The company strife’s to achieve this with maximum
efficiency and innovation. From improving transit times between
small towns and metros, creating state-of-the-art distribution model,
to providing 24/7 online shipment tracking support; our technology
solutions are designed to help businesses achieve greater
efficiency.

Business Model –

An express logistics venture, the company operates under the

brand Deccan 360, and aims to provide end-to-end logistic solutions
to corporate customers. Deccan 360 provides service to various
industry verticals – pharmaceuticals, machinery, manufacturing,
retail, electronics, textiles, banking, etc.
The firm also provides technology solutions, which will help Deccan
track all its shipments 24x7.

Differentiating Factor –
While other cargo operators provide services to the main metros,
Deccan 360 plans to reach out to smaller cities in the country. It
plans to reach to 75 cities in India. The company will shorten the
time span for cargo delivery by using the aerial route. Gopinath says
that warehousing, logistics and transportation comprise around 28%
of the total cost of manufacturing in India, which he plans to bring
down by 12%.

HUB-and-SPOKE Model.

A physical distribution system developed and modelled on industry

standards to provide cargo management for a theatre. It is based on
a "hub" moving cargo to and between several "spokes". It is
designed to increase transportation efficiencies and in-transit
visibility and reduce order ship time.

The hub-and-spoke distribution paradigm (or model or network) is a

system of connections arranged like a chariot wheel, in which all
traffic moves along spokes connected to the hub at the centre. The
model is commonly used in industry, in particular in transport,
telecommunications and freight, as well as in distributed computing.

Hub is located at Nagpur ….from there the distribution network is

extended upto small cities like Faridabad, Ankaleshwar, Mohali etc.
