MAKE THE CUT

Every Friday many new movies come to hit the Indian Box Office, on some Fridays they come in

battalions of flop shows while on some unexpected Friday we encounter a masterpiece which is able

to garner kudos from the viewers like us. Sometimes we encounter a totally new story but many a

times we taste the old wine in a new bottle.

“MAKE THE CUT” is an event which will provide a platform to the brightest marketing minds of the

best B-schools of India to show their mental prowess. The event is based on making a promotional

strategy of the re-release of a Bollywood movie. The teams could also be asked about the other

ways to generate revenues from the movie.

The teams would then be shortlisted and would be asked to present the same in front of a panel

comprising of judges from the field of film marketing.

Rules

Preliminary Round

1. This is a team event. A minimum of 2 and maximum of 3 people are allowed as a team.

Teams of students belonging to the same institute only are allowed. No inter college teams

are permitted for the event.

2. Participants are required to choose one movie from any of the 9 movies, mentioned at the

end of this document.

3. Participants are required to send in a word document (Max 3 pages. font: Arial, Font size 10,

line spacing: 1) on the promotional strategy of the re-release of that movie.

4. The document must include the following points:

• Reasons for the success and failure of the movie during its previous release.
• A new promotional strategy for the re-release of the movie.

• The media mix to be used for the promotion.

• The audience or the community targeted in the film’s promotion.

• New methods to generate revenues from the movie’s re-release.

• Any other relevant idea the team would like to incorporate in the strategy.

• The financial budget only for promotion campaign.

5. Each entry should have a cover page mentioning the name of the team, name of the

Institute, name of the participants, their e-mail ids and contact numbers.

6. The file should be named using the format MTC_TeamName_InstituteName.

7. The last date of submitting entries for the first round is 4th February 2011.

8. The entry should be sent with the subject line of the e-mail as

MTC_TeamName_InstituteName to the id <entraance.imnu@gmail.com>

9. Based on the submissions, 6 finalists will be invited to the NIRMA Campus for the final

round.

Final Round

1. The final round will be held at Institute of Management, NIRMA UNIVERSITY Ahmedabad during

PERSPECTIVE 2011.

2. Shortlisted finalists make a presentation for 15 minutes pitching the strategy in front of esteemed

judges.

Prize Money:

1st Prize Rs. 5000/- team

2nd Prize Rs. 3000/- team
