The concept for One Spoke Loose

arose from my love of bike riding
around North Fitzroy where I live.
During the game each player builds
their own bicycle from laser cut
bike parts.

Design a large format poster and

one other promotional item for the
Melbourne International Arts Festival
SOLUTION

The Melbourne Arts Festival

represents an exchange of
artistic ideas between artists
and their audience. I chose to
capture this interchange by
designing a pattern created from
water. The water represents the
fluid nature of the arts as it can
exist in multiple states; solid,
liquid and gas.

Create the brand identity, stationery

and style guide for contemporary
art space Atelier Projects

SOLUTION

Atelier Projects is an avant-garde

enterprise whose identity had to
reflect a clean, unembellished
aesthetic. The layered elements
of the logo reflects the display of
art on the gallery walls over time.
Minimum Size

To protect the integrity of the design, the

mark may be reduced to no smaller than the
displayed size.
41.65 mm
Clear Space Guidelines = height of the rounded letter R

The minimum clear space is represented as

the dimensional height of the letter ‘X’ taken
from the width of the rounded letter ‘R’.
No other design elements are to enter this
clear space grid. 41.65 mm

Photography

The Atelier Projects photographic style is

evolutionary. It directly correlates to the
type of artwork displayed in the gallery
and any promotional material showing
photography is an extension of the artworks
on display. The gallery is only a vehicle for
spreading the artist’s message.
The artworks vary from light installations,
sculpture, illustration, painting, print
making, electronic media, ceramics, and
photography; virtually anything that a single
artist or group show may present. The style
in which these artworks are captured should
be congruent with the artist’s style.
Variations of tight close-ups and wide-
angled imagery may be used to highlight
certain textures and features that signify the
wide array of contemporary art on display.

CHALLENGE

Design the annual report for

contemporary art space Atelier
Projects and choose a theme to
communicate the brand identity.

SOLUTION

The annual report for Atelier Projects

communicates two points of perception.
The first from the individual’s point of view
and the second from the outside world.
I created imagery by compressing hand
drawn type into spaces around a faceless
viewer in order to build upon the layered
nature of the brand identity.
