Joining Instructions
1. Introduction
National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) was established in 1991
for promotion of higher scientific education in the country by providing stable and
disciplined academic environment coupled with the need-based research, pertinent to
industrial requirements. NUST was granted a charter in 1993. Since then university has
expanded its scope, services, stature and has emerged as a leading comprehensive
university in the public sector in the country.
In order to meet the growing demands for skilled human capital in the field of
Management Sciences, NUST established an affiliated institute called NUST Institute of
Management Sciences in 1999.Its mission was to train and educate a class of business
leaders learning cutting-edge technologies and practical business skills in a broader
intellectual and ethical framework to respond to the challenges and opportunities of the
ever-changing market place.
In 2008, NIMS was renamed as NUST Business School (NBS) with the objective
to provide relevant and high quality education in Management Sciences. In less than a
decade NBS has emerged as one of the premier business schools in Pakistan and a
source of quality human resource for the corporate sector.

2. Location
NUST Business School (NBS) is situated at NUST Campus in Sector H-12 of
Islamabad.

3. Arrival/Reception
The students are required to arrive at NBS on Sunday 19th September 2010
through Gate # 10 to attend the registration and orientation session. The schedule of
registration and orientation is attached as under:-

• EMBA Anx ‘A’.

• UG / PG Anx ‘B & C’.

4. Documents Required on Orientation Day

• Medical Fitness Certificate (if not already submitted at NUST HQ).

• Original SSC & HSSC (or equivalent) qualification certificates along with two
photocopies of each.

• Those who have passed ‘O’/’A’ level examinations must bring the equivalence
certificates from IBCC otherwise they will NOT be registered at NUST.

• Undertaking regarding conduct (specimen attached as Anx ‘D’)

 • Surety Bond (specimen attached as Anx ‘E’) duly made out on stamp paper
worth Rs 50/-

• 4 (1”x1”) photographs.
• NBS students Bio Data form attached as Anx ‘F’.
• Proforma for Wards o Def Services Personnel (where applicable) attached as
Anx ‘G’.

4. Dress Code
In order to maintain academic dignity and sanctity of the institution, students are
required to wear a prescribed dress but not a uniform. The aim of dress restriction is not
to impose any rigidity or regimentation. It is to infuse the spirit of discipline and
punctuality which is the cardinal aspect of life style at NUST campuses.
Dress code is given below; which will be equally applicable on weekends and off
days:-
a. Male Students
Decent dress Pant, Shirt, Neck Tie and Shoes. Casual dress/ without crease
pant will not be worn. NBS ID Card must be displayed on the front of every
student's top wear. (Ribbon for hanging I.D Card around the neck will be
provided by NBS) Jeans, Jogger, T-Shirts and Long hair not allowed.
b. Female Students
Decent / Simple Shalwar Qameez and Dopatta. NBS ID Card must be
displayed on the front of every student's top wear. Exquisite Jewelry is not
allowed. Jeans/ tight dress/ trousers are not allowed.
6. Boarding and Lodging.
Students who have applied for hostel will come to NBS for Orientation along with
their luggage. After Orientation, they will be taken to their respective hostels.
Boys: Ghazzali Hostels
Girls: Zainab Hostels

Important Note for Boarders:

a. Parents/Guardians/Relatives/Friends are not allowed to enter the hostel

premises.
b. Boarders are not allowed to keep any vehicles on campus.

2. During studies, the trainee shall abide by the school/college/centre

discipline and rules, regulations and standing orders/procedures concerned
and pay all expenses in due time. Any violations of these will make the
trainee liable to expulsion from the university, which shall be without right of
appeal in any court of law. During studies, if trainee is expelled by the
School/College/Centre on any ground, or deliberately fails and does not
study, trainee will lose his seat in the School/College/Centre and will not be
allowed to continue studies in any of the NUST institutions.

3. The trainee will abstain from any political activity during his tenure of
studies at NUST. Trainee, if found guilty of an act which is forbidden by NUST
authorities including cheating/drinking alcohol, etc, will be liable to expulsion
from the NUST.

4. NUST authorities reserve the right to plan/issue extended schedule of classes/exams

during any part of the day, on as required basis.
