11. PUNCTUALITY: “EARLY TO BED - EARLY TO RISE”
Well done to all children who are in their line at 8.50 every morning. Sadly some
children are presenting late for school every day. This practice is very disruptive both
for the children involved and for the school in general. Parents! For the new year
please make a big effort to have your child in school on time. It is good training for
life. Teachers will discuss the importance of punctuality with their classes and
encourage the children to be in school at 8.50.daily.
12. WELCOME:
We welcome Ms. Sheila Carbery to our school who has taken over Mr. O’Grady’s
class. We hope she will be happy in Our Lady of Mercy.
13. H.S.C.L. ROOM:
The Parent’s Room is always available for you to drop in for tea/coffee. We feel very
privileged to have this facility in our school and encourage you to use it. Partnership
between staff and parents is very important to us. Thank you for your support and
co-operation on this.
Information about courses and classes for parents for the New Year will be advertised
soon.
14. CONGTRATULATIONS:
Congratulations to Ms. Joanne Leydon on her recent marriage to Mr. James
Gilmartin. We wish Joanne and James every happiness in their future life together.
15. SYMPATHY:
Our Lady of Mercy offers sincere sympathy to the family of Maureen Martin who died
recently in Ennis. Maureen taught in Scoil Chaitriona for 16 years. Ar dheis Dé go
raibh sí.
16. SWINE FLU (CATCH IT – BIN IT- KILL IT):
Parents may be concerned about the recent media attention towards Swine Flu
(Influenza H1N1). We would like to reassure you that the school has put preventative
measures in place as outlined by the HSE. The issue is being addressed in all
classes through SPHE.
We would encourage you to share coughing and sneezing etiquette with your child
(Catch it – Bin It – Kill it) and appropriate hand hygiene procedures.
Parents may wish to give children their own anti-bacterial hand gels.
If your child presents with any ‘flu like illness’, please keep them at home and contact
