Dear Students (09-11 Batch),

This is to inform you all that the following modifications have been incorporated in
evaluation of your Dissertation. You will consult your guide (refer the Notice Board) and
start the work with immediate effect. In addition, you shall adhere to the deadlines given
for submission of synopsis and final dissertation. Any sub-standard work shall lead to
rejection. The failure on the part of a student to submit the final dissertation within the
deadline will lead to debar from appearing the End Term Exam of Term V.

The failure on the part of a student to submit the final dissertation within the deadline will lead to
debar from appearing the End Term Exam of Term V.

Synopsis for Dissertation

The synopsis is a brief out line (about four A-4 size pages or 1000 words is the maximum limit) of
the student’s future work for dissertation.

Format of Synopsis

A synopsis must have the following headings:

TITLE: Should reflect the objectives of the study. It must be written after the whole synopsis has
been written so that it is a true representative of the plan (i.e. the synopsis).

INTRODUCTION: Should contain brief background of the selected topic. It must identify the
importance of study, its relevance and applicability of results. It must clearly state the purpose of
the study.

OBJECTIVES: Objectives are statements of mentions. They inform the reader clearly what the
researcher plans to do in his/her work. The must identify the variables involved in research.
Objective should start with an action verb and be sufficiently specific, measurable, achievable,
relevant and time bound (SMART).

LITRETAURE REVIEW: Literature Review is a critical appraisal of the previous work published in
the literature pertaining to the topic of the investigation.The review should be properly referenced.

RESEARCH DESIGN: Research Design should include Sample Size, Sampling Technique,
Sample Selection, Data Collection Procedure, Data Analysis Plan giving a brief statement about
what statistical procedures to be used., etc.

CHAPTERIZATION: The Chapterization shall enlist the titles of the chapters, section and sub-
section using decimal notation, as in the text, with corresponding page number against them,
flushed to the right.
