• A voltage multiplier is an electrical circuit that

converts AC electrical power from a lower voltage to
a higher DC voltage for testing electrical
equipment’s and also for using High voltage direct
current (HVDC) applications by means of capacitors
and diodes combined into a network. It can be used
to generate bias voltages of a few volts or tens of
volts or millions of volts for purposes such as high-
energy physics experiments and in electrical
research fields

• single phasing means opening of one of the three

phases supplying to the motor. Single phasing may
be caused due to fuse blown out in one of the
phase, loose contact in terminal, breakage of
connecting leads, badly soldered winding
connection and power supply failure in one phase.
When single phasing occurs in a three phase motor
during running condition, a peculiarly squeaking
noise will be present and motor will draw a heavy
current from the remaining two lines. In order to
protect the motor from operation with loss of one
phase single phase preventer is used.
