Event Introduction

In the modern era of rapid urbanization, foresight, forethought and planning remains essential for
sustainable development. Fantasticity provides a platform for an innovative mind to create and
plan the township with an unbinding imagination.

Problem Statement

An Island city X, which has flourished over the years due to its architectural heritage and
township, is facing an infrastructure crisis since the last decade due to rapid growth in economy
and tourism. The city is ill equipped to handle the huge influx of commuters travelling in and out
of the city, which majorly include corporate and tourist. Hence, the governing body of the city
has decided to construct a new International Airport equipped with all the modern technologies
and New Hotels to facilitate the corporate and tourist.
The participants are required to provide tender for the same.

Specifications

• The present Domestic airport has a capacity of handling 20,000 passengers per day.
• The hotels system is expected to cater three classes of commuters- business, luxury and economy.
• The new airport and hotels system are to be placed efficiently and well connected.
• The city is expected to have 1,00,000 passengers and 4000 tonnes of cargo, per day.
• 30% of the passengers are corporate and 40% are tourists.
• Dredging cost in the area is $ 4.82 per cu. Yard.

Details Expected in Tenders

• Location selected for the airport and hotels across the city.
• Plan of the airport showing the details of terminals and other major specifications.
• Approach to the airport from various parts of the city.
• Estimate for land acquisition and construction.
• General description (technical) of the type of construction method to be followed.

Stipulations

• All roadways have been fixed. No acquisition can be made for roadway.
• A map (AutoCAD) of layout is mandatory.
• No demolitions on the current state of city are permitted.
• Selected teams will be required to present their idea and model in front of the jury.
• No budget limits. Tenders are invited with no caps.
• The one found economical and the most convenient would be given preference.
Rules and Regulations
Last date for submission of tender is 30th September 2010.

Note: The decision of judges and organizing committee would be final and binding. The
organizers reserve the right to modify any of the rules and regulations from time to time in order
to maintain a healthy spirit of the competition. Participating teams are requested to check this
space for the latest updates.
