FADE IN:

1. EXT. ALIEN LANDSCAPE

It is a barren world with no plants or animals. There are

peaking rocks and soil. In the distance, there is a crashed
spaceship of some sort.

CUT TO:

2. EXT. CRASH SITE

An ASTRONAUT is sitting on the ground and it looks like he

has crawled quite a distance. He starts shaking his head
and begins to laugh.

CUT TO:

3. EXT. BARREN LANDSCAPE

From closer up and another angle, we can see that there is

some kind of ghostly presence here. It is the spectre of an
alien being; it is the ALIEN GHOST. It looks like it is
about to say something.

CUT TO:

4. ASTRONAUT

He has held up his hand to stop the alien from saying

anything and shakes his head back and forth. He is laughing
heartily now, which sounds muffled and echo-like under his
helmet. He looks down at something.

CUT TO:

5. ALIEN CORPSE

It is entirely desiccated and long since dead. Even it’s

space suit looks ragged and worn from the ravages of time.

6. BARREN LANDSCAPE, NEW ANGLE – WIDE SHOT

From this vantage point, we can see the ASTRONAUT and the
ALIEN GHOST as well as the alien remains.

ASTRONAUT

You didn’t get too far either, huh?

The ALIEN GHOST tilts its head, but doesn’t speak. The
ASTRONAUT looks around, surveying the area. He chuckles a
little more.

ASTRONAUT

You know, it’s funny. Hilarious,

really.

CUT TO:

7. BARREN LANDSCAPE, MEDIUM SHOT

The ALIEN GHOST is slowly approaching the astronaut, who has

leaned back with his arms on his knees.

ASTRONAUT

Mankind - humanity, that’s me, well we

spent centuries developing travel. We
broke through the barrier of flight.
The speed of sound was an obstacle for a
while there, but we got past it. Our
own atmosphere was a barrier for a
while, too.

The ASTRONAUT looks up in the heavens, staring at the wide

expanse of stars.

CUT TO:
 4.

8. STARSCAPE

This is a slow pan of the boundless heavens as the astronaut

speaks.

ASTRONAUT
(voice over, on stars)
Mankind has even broken the barrier of
intergalactic distances with faster than
light travel, which brings me here.

CUT TO:

7. BACK TO MEDIUM SHOT OF LANDSCAPE

The ASTRONAUT points around the area and looks back at the
ALIEN GHOST.

ASTRONAUT

Where ever here is.

The ALIEN GHOST looks around and then back at the ASTRONAUT.

ASTRONAUT

And you, my fine slightly-opaque friend.

You’ve not only crossed ages of time and
space, but you’ve broken through the
barrier of death itself to greet me.

CUT TO:

9. ALIEN GHOST

Looking confused.

ASTRONAUT
(voice over, on GHOST -
laughing)
So, you can see why this is so funny to
me. With all those barriers…

7. BACK TO MEDIUM SHOT OF LANDSCAPE

The ASTRONAUT and the ALIEN GHOST look at each other.

ASTRONAUT
(laughing)
…the one barrier we still cannot break
is…

ALIEN GHOST

Kielioth schmort aggle fab. Dort bune?

ASTRONAUT
(really laughing now)
…is the language barrier.

CUT TO:

10. BARREN LANDSCAPE, WIDE SHOT

From a greater distance, we see the ASTRONAUT guffawing and

the ALIEN GHOST looking confused.

CUT TO:

11. ALIEN LANDSCAPE

From a distance, we can only see the broken spaceship and a

hint of the two characters. The laughing of the astronaut
echoes through the environment as we
