Project Proposal Guidelines

Project Brief
For this project, students are needed to develop a system that include 5 elements / functions
(add, delete, edit/update/modify, search and view for report). You should conduct a research so
that all implications including location, stakeholders, timescales, and project resources are
considered.

The Planning Phase (Proposal-Group) for the project will then be completed and all
deliverables produced as indicated below. There will be a group submission from this stage.
Proposal just submits based on guideline below

Detailed Project Proposal Content

As general guidance, the following basic components should be included in an application:

1. Project title (3 marks)

2. Introduction / company background (12 marks) - The proposal summary should outline the
key elements of the research project proposal in two or three paragraphs. Company
background and activity

3. Problem/Issue Statement (15 marks)- A proponent should provide a concise statement of the
specific research problem to be solved or an issue to be addressed and its relevance to British
Columbia.

4. Project scopes (12 marks)- The Scope Statement provides a common understanding of the
project among stakeholders. Some organizations create a separate Scope Statement Document
while others make it a part of the Project Charter or Project Plan.

5. Project Objectives (12 marks)- The project objectives should clearly describe the project
goals and their relevance to the specific air quality management issues in British Columbia.
Applicants should identify the anticipated results and benefits to be accrued upon completion of
the project.

6. Target user (10 marks)

- List of user with briefly explain their task

7. Project planning (30 marks)

- Work Breakdown Structure - is a foundation of project planning. It is developed before

dependencies are identifies and activity durations are estimated. The WBS can be used to
identify the task in the Gantt Chart / Pert Chart.
- Gantt chart/ pert chart - Gantt charts and PERT charts are useful tools for visualizing and
communicating information about projects, but they have a number of limitations. In addition, the
ease with which they can be created using software applications makes them open to misuse and
misinterpretation. (Minimum duration by weekly)

- Relational table Database - In relational databases and flat file databases, a table is a set of
data elements (values) that is organized using a model of vertical columns (which are identified
by their name) and horizontal rows. A table has a specified number of columns, but can have any
number of rows. Each row is identified by the values appearing in a particular column subset
which has been identified as a candidate key.

8. References (6 marks) - List the reference that you have cited in your proposal. Example of a

9. Appendices (Optional) – Appendices to the proposal should contain resumes of project

personnel, letters of support or endorsement for the project, confirmation or commitment of
funding for the project from other agencies or partners, and any other items in support of the
proposal.
