Faulk Is Likely Captain For Next

team, will possibly be elected cap-
tain of the quintet for next year if
his physical condition permits. He
is regarded as the logical candidate
for the 1925-26 leadership and in-
asmuch as Alpha Phi will have five
of the probable eight letter men, his
selection should be assured.
The only li~ely obstacle to his
election is his health. "Jeems" was
recently ordered from the squad be-
cause it was found that he had de-
veloped an "athletic heart," which
doctors feared would result fatally
if he were allowed to continue play-
ing without a rest. Should the
heart trouble allow of his return to
the team next year it is possible he
will be given the captaincy.
If Faulk should be forbidden to
play, the selection of next season's
leader is likely to become a more
difficult matter. In that event Mor-
ris and Ruddick are being mention-
ed as eligible.
The Lower Merion five finished
its season this week. The men who
will be granted their letters will
possibly be announced next week.
Shortly after elections for next year
will be held.
The likely letter men are Captain
Robert Gilfillan, Jimmy Faulk,
Dave Bevan, Howard Morris, Paul
Scull, Ronald Ruddick, Albert Koh-
las and Dick Reinhold.
Four of these men, all regulars
on this year's quintet, will be lost
through graduation. Those who
will receh'e their diplomas in June
are Captain Gilfillan, Scull, Rein-
hold and Bevan.
EPISCOPAL ACADEMY NEWS
Episcopal Wins Twice.

Episcopal won an exciting game
from Chestnut Hill last Friday by
the score of 21-20. It was an In-
teracademic League contest and the
victory enabled the churchmen to
keep joint hold on second place with
St. Luke's, which easily humbled
Penn Charter.
The play was close throughout
and in the last second of play Hel-
ler, the Hiller's snappy forward,
was fouled, with the score 21-20
against his team. Spectators rushed
on the court thinking the game was
over but Referee Barfood cleared
the floor, and Heller toed the mark
with a possible victory o~ defeat
depending on his throw. The ball
hit the rim, and, amdist a dead
silence. rolled around and out, gi,"-
ing Episcopal a one-point win.
Chestnut Hill got the jump at the
start of the game securing two field
goals before the Churchmen regis-
tered a point. The score mounted
to 9-2 with the Hillers leading, and
then to 10-5 with ony four minutes
remaining in the period. In these
four minutes Episcopal staged a
remarkable rally and with three
successivefield goals sandwiched in
with a foul, emerged at half-time
with a 12-10 lead.
During the final session the
guarding became closer and points
became scarce. \Vith five minutes
to go Episcopal, on a field goal by
Andrews, jumped to a 19-15 ad-
vantage. Another twin-counter by
the same player and three fouls by
Chestnut Hill made the score read
21-18 with a minute remaining.
Heller then scored on a long toss,
setting the stage for the hapennings
in the last second of play.
Jimmy Andrews was the oustand-
ing star for the winners with I I of
his teams 21 points. Heller was
Chestnut Hill's mainstay in both
scoring and floor work.
On the Tuesday preceding the
Chestnut Hill game Episcopal easily
defeated Montgomery, 46 to 16.
Coach Brinton sent in every
player on his second team and every
combination tried worked well.
McMullen, one of the few regulars
in the contest, led in the scoring
with six field goals.

In a preliminary to the Chestnut
Hill game, the Episcopal reserves
defeated the Chestnut Hill reserves,

SEE VALLEY FORGE
Make Annual PilgrImage on Eve of
WashIngton's Birthday.
The annual pilgrimage to Valley
Forge was made Saturday by more
than 2000 Boy Scouts from the
councils of Montgomery and Dela-
ware counties. Local troops were
represented.
The boys, representing 65 troops,
left their special train at Port Ken-
nedy and hiked to the old cabin at
the rear of the Valley Forge Me-
morial Chapel under leadership of
J. W. Patton, deputy scout execu-
tive.
They were addressed by the Rev.
W. Herbert Burk, pastor and
founder of the Washington Me-
morial Church of Valley Forge.
\Vashington's own ideas and ideals
for character-building are fostered
in the scout movement, Dr. Burk
declared, urging his young audience
to study Washington as an out-
standing example of American man-
hood.
The Penn bowl fight was staged,
with the Main Line district getting :-
the most hands on the rim of the
bowl.
Chief Strong Wolf, who lives in
Narberth, a full-blooded Ojibway
Indian, showed the Scouts some·
thing original in the way of an
Indian war dance in the afternoon.
He also exhibited his skill with the
bow and arrow, and told a series of
stories about pioneer heroes.
The latter part of the observance
was taken up with historical hikes
over all parts of the reserve. Guides
accompained the boys on these trips,
pointing out all the interesting
points as well as explaining the sig-
nficance of numerous marks and
signs along the woody thickets.
The outing was similar to the
ones staged by the scouts of the
two counties for the last decade.
\Vhen the first pilgrimage was tak-
en, only about 100 scouts turned
out. This number has increased
yearly, and last year it was esti-
mated that more than 1900 boys had
made the trip.
