IASAS 2ND SEASON REPORT:
Basketball; A big thanks to all the ISM community for supporting the IASAS Basketball tournament. There were some
very close and exciting matches played over the three days and our Bearcats boys and girls teams were in the thick of
the action in the close matches. A one point win over Taipei on Friday morning and then a close 4 point loss to
eventual runners up ISKL Friday evening had the gyms jumping and the fans screaming support for our boys team.
The girls team made a great comeback win over ISKL and then pushed all other teams with tight defense and a
scrappy ’never say die’ attitude in all their games. The Bearcats boys kept the excitement rolling in the finals on
Saturday by taking out an overtime win against ISB to claim 3rd place and the Bronze medal. Our girls team with one
win and 4 losses finished in 5th place overall. Well done to all players and coaches.
Other IASAS Results:
Girls Touch defeated ISB in the final in Taipei and claimed IASAS Gold for the 2nd year in a row.
Girls Tennis won Gold and Boys Tennis won Bronze at a rain affected IASAS Tennis championships in Singapore

REAL Club Hiking Trip – Mount Maculot
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The REAL (Recreation, Environment, Adventure, Learning) club is pleased to inform you of
the upcoming hiking trip to Mount Maculot. This trip is aimed at introducing students to a
safe yet adventurous recreational activity in an area where it is easy to appreciate the
natural environment and the importance of respecting it. The venue for the activity is
Mount Maculot, Cuenca, Batangas approx. 2 hours from Manila by bus. The hike up and
down the mountain should take us approximately 4 hours.
This trip will be chaperoned by 3 teachers all with experience of coaching outdoor
activities. ISM security staff will accompany this trip for its duration. The students do not
require any previous experience of hiking but will need to have a good level of general
fitness.
Field trip date: Depart Saturday February 12th at 6:00AM and return on the same day at
approx. 5:00PM
Chaperones: Mr. Chris Goodman, Mr. Mark Knewstubb, Mr. Tom McLean, Mr. Richard
Reilly,
Clothing: Students must wear comfortable walking boots or running shoes. Bring clothes
that breathe easily and those that students don’t mind getting too dirty. Students will
spend a long time exposed to the weather and so a hat is essential and a waterproof
jacket would be useful.
Students should bring: Small, comfortable back-pack, sun block, sunglasses, water bottle
(with at least 2 liters of water); packed lunch and money for a food stop on the journey
back.
If you have any questions concerning this trip please contact Chris Goodman at:
