undergraduate and postgraduate study.

All fees are in £ sterling and may be subject to revision.

Fees in this guide follow a ‘fee banding’ system, outlined on pages 3


and 8.

Exceptions and non-standard fees are listed on pages 6 and 10-16.

Notes:

Continuing international undergraduate students undertaking a language abroad year or a work


placement year will pay a fee set at half the appropriate fee rate.

Part-time postgraduate fees will be set at 50% of the full-time fee.

Courses offered by module will be charged at a rate, per credit, as noted in the fee bands on page 8.

General notes

Additional fees
The following additional fees are applicable to postgraduate students:

1. The Annual Fees for research students covers registration, supervision


and examination. An additional fee of £400 is payable by students offering
themselves as candidates on a second or subsequent occasion.
2. A fee of £200 is payable by students for the re-assessment of a dissertation
forming part of a postgraduate taught degree programme.
3. For the higher degrees of DLitt, DMus, LLD, DDS, DVM, DSc, DEng and PhD by
published work all candidates pay a fee of £820 (inclusive of a £74 precognition
fee where preliminary application for the degree is required by the regulations)
on submission and, where re-submission is authorised, on re-submission of the
thesis.
4. A fee of £120 is due when a thesis is submitted after the period allowed for
submission has lapsed.
5. Those members of University staff in receipt of a tuition fee scholarship pay a fee
of £635 on submission or resubmission for the degree.
6. Research students whose full-time attendance and fee payment began after the

7. Research students who are certified by the Head of School or Research Institute

Fees for Masters and
Diploma programmes
1. If you register for a Masters and complete a Masters, you will be charged the listed
Masters fee.
2. If you register for a Diploma and complete a Diploma, you will be charged the
listed Diploma fee.
3. If you register for a Masters but decide that you want to do a Diploma instead, then
you’ll be charged for a Diploma. However this decision needs to be made within 13
weeks of registering. This is aligned with the University’s refund policy which states
that at 13 weeks no refund is possible for withdrawing. If the decision to switch
from a Masters to a Diploma is made after 13 weeks then you will be charged the
full Masters fee.
4. If you register for a Diploma but decide to do a Masters, you’ll be charged for a
Masters, whether you obtain a Diploma or a Masters at the end of the programme.

6. Different fee levels apply to some courses in the School of Education. Details

7. Students who are eligible by virtue of previous attendances to sit degree
examinations must enter for the examinations at the normal registration period at
the beginning of the session and pay a registration fee of £90.
8. Late fees are charged at 3% with a minimum charge of £5. Late fees will not be
charged to sponsors.
9. An additional charge will be made on payments made by credit card.
10. A charge of £20 will be made in cases of returned cheques, unpaid direct debits
and cancelled mandates.
