OBJECTIVES
a. FOCUS SKILL:
1. To discuss the importance and the value of doing one’s duty and
responsibility
b. SUPPORT SKILLS:
1. To expand one’s vocabulary using context clues
2. Relate a personal experience about their goals & responsibilities in
life
3. To list dreams, goals & interests in life by interviewing others
4. To interpret the poem with the help of quotations
5. To perform speech and theater arts activties
UNLOCKING OF DIFFICULTIES
Directions: The class will be divided into 5 groups. Letter cut outs are
placed on top of 5 chairs. Their goal is to arrange the letters to form
words by posting them on the board. The teacher will show the words
used in sentences.
For example, in this sentence, if he wants to answer “funny”, he will look for the
word “funny” among the letter cut-outs.

“You may think it queer to see me standing asleep.”
a. lovely
b. funny
c. crazy
e. Woods – Forest
“He went into the woods to look for unusual animals.”
a. a place with many woods
b. a forest
c. a place for wild life
4. GUIDE QUESTIONS
1) Who is the persona? Describe him.
2) Where did he stop? Describe the place.
3) Why did he stop by the woods in spite of heavy sorrow?
4) Why do you think the persona said this:
“But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep”?
5) What figures of speech were used?
6) What regret does he express in the last stanza?
7) What is the symbolism for the woods?
8) What is the main idea of the poem?
5. FIRST READING
The teacher will read the entire poem and he may ask them to
imagine the poem & let them create sounds of the wind to create
an ambience. The teacher may play sounds of the woods to make
it more real.
6. SECOND READING
The teacher will vary the way of reading.
e.g. Boys to read the first and third stanzas; girls to read the
second and fourth stanzas.
7. ANSWERING OF GUIDE QUESTIONS
The teacher will post the graphic organizer. Each student will be
given copies of the organizer and questions will be assigned to
them.

8. VALUING
The teacher will present questions for value formation.
a. If you were the speaker would you stop and stay by the woods?
Why?
b. What are your obligations as a child? A student? And as a Filipino
citizen?
1. WRITING ACTIVITY
The teacher will post a whole cartolina on the board with the
heading, “DREAMS TO FULFILL BFORE I REST IN PEACE?” The
students are given pieces of papers to write their goals, dreams
or even responsibilities. Afterwards, they will post it on the
cartolina.
V. APPLICATION
1. PREPARATION
The teacher will give quotations about goals & the importance of time to
meet their goals.
2. PERFORMANCE:
The students will perform the following tasks by using the poem and the
given quotations. They are given 5 minutes to prepare; 10 minutes for the
whole performance of the five groups.

Group I (skit)

Group II (tableau)

Group IV (Mime)
“If you can find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn't lead

Group V (tableau)
“Goals are dreams with deadlines.” -Diana Scharf
3. EVALUATION
Directions: Each group will be evaluated by the use of smiley. The groups are
given four happy faces, four fair faces and four sad faces. They are going to
post the smiley under each group on the board; happy smiley will be counted,
the more happy smiley they have, the more chances of getting the prize.

VI. ASSIGNMENT
Read Brothering Fish pp. 358-360 on your book and answer the
comprehension response on page 361.
