Tackifier for Elastomers

Tackifiers are employed in elastomeric compositions to

produce wider practical ranges for elastomer properties such
as stiffness and tack. AUROTACK 202 has been developed
to improve adhesion and sometimes cohesion without
necessarily stiffening or softening the elastomer
compositions.

For various applications, it is desirable that elastomers have good tack properties prior to
curing. The tack property should be to allow the elastomer to bond on contact with a
force, which is sufficiently high to oppose delaminating forces which appear enough
during the fabrication of elastomers products.

AUROTACK 202 is particularly useful in elastomer products which require green tack in
their construction. these elastomers include natural rubber (NR), poly butadiene rubber
(PBR), ethylene propylene diene copolymer rubber (EPDM), butadiene-styrene
copolymer rubber (SBR), acrylonitrile copolymer (ABS) etc. AUROTACK 202 does not
have any adverse effect on the cure rate of the vulcanisation.

APPLICATIONS

AUROTACK 202 may be used in elastomers as tire stock tackifier, cement tackifier and
tackifier for any rubber application requiring green tack. Rubber products that require
good green tack in their construction include tyres, belts, hoses and tread rubber. These
tackifiers may also be utilized in rubber based adhesives containing SBR, NR, EPDM,
NBR etc both of the solvent and the emulsion type

Process Oils

In the rubber industry the petroleum oils are mainly used as:

RUBBER PROCESS OILS (used by manufacturer of finished rubber product, to aid

processing) and RUBBER EXTENDERS OILS
(used by raw material manufacturers to soften polymers).

Extender oil by swelling the polymer and by providing lubricants between rubber
molecules softens the stiff rubbery polymers.
By adding extender oils the molecular weight, viscosity & solvency of the base
polymers can be varied & because of oil content
more additional ingredients can be blended.

Process oils assist in the mixing operation, reduces compounding time, improve
process ability and modify the physical
properties of the finished product.

New rubber compounding process requires high speed mixing & short mixing times &
proper polymer consistency for rapid
processing. Process oils can aid to optimize these conditions, the compounder can
achieve a workable mass with good
dispersion of fillers by selecting correct process oil.

Sticking to calendar & Process oils as well as other ingredients (like wax) import an
oiliness to the rubber mass that helps prevent
tube machine dies. It is particularly important in extrusion & injection mouldings
where output & rejection rates are adversely
affected by a sticky non-uniform formulation.

Since the primary plasticizers in pvc leather cloth manufacturing are costly, process
oils may be used as secondary plasticizers to
reduce cost.
