ANNOUNCEMENT: Following is an excerpt from letter of Dec. 22,

2010 from Mayor Kenny Wright:

Portsmouth City Council has held Community Meetings each year for the last several years to give citizens an
additional opportunity to bring community concerns to Council's attention. I am pleased to report to you that
Council is planning to continue the Community Meetings in 2011 with two meetings scheduled at Portsmouth
public schools. The first of these is scheduled for Tuesday, January 18th, at I. C. Norcom High School,
beginning at 7 p.m. This Budget Forum is the first of many opportunities for City Council to hear speakers on
Operating and Capital Improvement Budgeting concerns. Citizens may also bring forth neighborhood and
community concerns. The other Community Meeting scheduled this year is on Monday, September 19th, at
Churchland High School. This meeting will also begin at 7 p.m. Any citizen is welcome to attend any or all of
these meetings. Please attend if you can. Thanks. Jim Moore

MEMBERSHIP

Let's start the New Year with a good drive to increase membership in our WPV Community League. It is time
to pay the 2011 dues of $10 per household which is needed to cover our basic budgetary needs and to continue
to provide special events in our community during the year. Our goal is to increase the 2011 membership to
exceed the 106 of 2010. Your help is needed, look around and reflect on what a GREAT neighborhood we have
and show your support by sending your dues to P.O. Box 7942, Portsmouth, Va. 23707. If you would like your
dues picked up, call Brenda Turner 397-8383 or bring to January meeting on the 10th. Thanks for your
