25 MINUTE BILINGUAL TUTOR STANDARD LEVEL PROCEDURE (RT)

Level 1 to 6
Section 1 Review homework on Demis or in the Workbook: 5 MINS
 Make corrections and give feedback to the student
 Input the answers on Demis and click submit

Check comments from the previous lesson:


 Have the student explain the Phrases/vocabulary and have them use it

in a sentence. Correct them and have them repeat as necessary. Do 2

words/Phrase

** Unit 1 to 2: Explain the vocabulary to the student and then have them use it

in a sentence **
 Say the pronunciation word and have the students repeat it 3 times.

Do 2 words
 Explain the Grammar point and have the student make up a sentence

using that Grammar point

** Unit 1 to 2: Explain the Grammar point, give the student an example sentence

and have them make their own sentence using that Grammar point**

NOTE:

Correct pronunciation, stress, intonation and the student’s sentence structure

and have them repeat the full sentences throughout the class. Make sure to write

the sentence in the student’s notebook


Section 2 Ask 2 warm-up questions about the lesson: 7 MINS
 Correct the students answer and have them repeat the corrected

sentence
 Write Corrected Sentences in the student’s notebook

Go over the CD-ROM:

Part 1: Have the student read the introduction to the video

Part 2: Emphasize the Pre-video Question

Part 3: Watch the Video

Part 4: Ask the Pre-video question


 Correct the students answer and have them repeat the corrected

sentence
 Write the corrected Sentence in the student’s notebook

Part 5: Line by line (Optional on the number of pronunciation errors made)


 The teacher has the student repeat the dialogue line by line out loud

Part 6: Role-Play (Optional on the number of pronunciation errors made)

Part 7: Quiz
 Have the student read out the questions and give the best possible

answer in a full sentence


NOTE:

write the sentence in the student’s notebook


Section 3 Go over 7 Key phrases or Vocabulary from the dialogue: 8 MINS
You can also use vocabulary from the Vocabulary section of the Teachers

guide, from the lesson dialogue, or review a combination of vocabulary

from any of the three sources.

** Units 1 to 2: Go over 4 phrases or Vocabulary **

** Units 3 to 4: Go over 5 phrases or Vocabulary **


 Explain the phrases or vocabulary to the student and have them use

them in a role-play with the teacher or in sentences


 Correct the students sentences and have them repeat the corrected

sentences
 Write Corrected Sentences in the student’s notebook

Go over the grammar section:


 Explain the grammar point to the student
 Have the student use the grammar examples in a sentence
 Correct the students sentences and have them repeat the corrected

sentences
 Write Corrected Sentences in the student’s notebook

NOTE:

Section 4 Focus on the Additional practices and Follow-up questions in the back pages: 4 MINS
 Have the student read the dialogue or do a role-play with the tutor
 Correct the students sentences and have them repeat the corrected

sentences
 Write Corrected Sentences in the student’s notebook

Provide Homework:
 Show the student the instructions on how to do homework on-line
 Remind the student that Homework can also be done in the workbook
 Give the student the list of 7 to 10 corrected sentences recorded

throughout the class and urge them to review them

** Unit 1 to 2: Give Students a list of 10-15 corrected sentences **

** Unit 3 to 4: Give Students a list of 10 corrected sentences **

Complete the Daily Evaluation Form:


 Record 4 Phrases/Vocabulary
 Record 3 mispronounced words
 Record 1/2 frequent grammar errors
 Record any other additional points you feel the next tutor should be

UNITS 1 to 2
IMPORTANT:
1. Tutor must write 10-15 corrected sentences throughout the class for the student
2. The Tutor must record 4 Phrases/vocabulary, 3/4 pronunciation words, and 1/2 grammar
errors in the Student Evaluation Form
3. The Tutor must remember to go over 4 vocabulary/key phrases or sentences from the
dialogue
4. The Tutor must keep a ratio of 50/50 closed and open-ended sentences
5. The Tutor must remember to have at least 5-10 closed/open question combination
depending on the student’s level i.e. “Did you eat breakfast”? “What do you usually have?”
6. The Tutor must keep a ratio of 50/50 teacher student talk time

UNITS 3 to 4
IMPORTANT:
1. Tutor must write 10 corrected sentences throughout the class for the student
2. The Tutor must record 4 Phrases/vocabulary, 3/4 pronunciation words, and 1/2 grammar
errors in the Student Evaluation Form
3. The Tutor must remember to go over 5 vocabulary/key phrases or sentences from the
dialogue
4. The Tutor must keep a ratio of 10/90 closed and open-ended sentences
5. The Tutor must remember to have no more than 5 closed/open question combinations
depending on the students’ skills i.e. “Did you eat breakfast”? “What do you usually have?”
6. The Tutor must keep a ratio of 35/65 teacher student talk time

UNITS 5 to 6
IMPORTANT:
1. Tutor must write 7-10 corrected sentences throughout the class for the student
2. The Tutor must record 4 Phrases/vocabulary, 3/4 pronunciation words, and 1/2 grammar
errors in the Student Evaluation Form
3. The Tutor must remember to go over 7 key phrases/sentences from the dialogue
4. The Tutor should ask close to “100% open-ended sentences
5. The Tutor must keep a ratio of 30/70 teacher student talk time
