Setting of lowest beam- can be carried out in one go easily whether or not, it is monolithic
with grade slab
Setting of columns – it is a little tedious as a decision has to be taken about whether stage
casting of column or full casting allowing dowels
Setting of first waist slab-waist slab requires dimensions of waist soffit
Setting of landing beams-landing slab requires dimensions of soffit + beam soffit ( up
stand or down stand)
Setting of mid landing- requires dimensions of soffit
Setting of second waist slab - waist slab requires dimensions of waist soffit + beams / slab
Setting of floor portion landing- requires slab dimensions in line with main slab
Setting of floor beams- requirement of surrounding beams
Ensure the riser & tread dimensions- very significant
Ensure the structural floor height to structural floor height, matches with the riser size
summations or number of risers multiplied by size of riser
In general, calculation & setting dimensions is a cumbersome process for stair work on
site. Working carpenter requires full details that either junior supervisors or surveyor on
site may not rightly communicate.
Check whether or not, all required dimensions are indicated. In case, of some important
dimension missing, use Autocad sot copy for charting out the required dimension. It is
not a tedious job by Autocad. Calculating using formula, shall not be much supportive.
It is significant to note that carpenter shall require relevant dimension necessary for
setting out formwork in three axis dimensions.
Check whether or not, supporting system scaffolding for the stair is easy as supplied by
the proprietary manufacturer or it requires to be designed on site using traditional
methods. It has been observed that many adjustments are made on site for such purposes.
Check whether or not, complete stair can be poured in one go or in two stages.
Check all rebars & have those placed in right locations.
Check all electrical inserts that are in place
Check all risers are in right locations & well anchored using middle anchorage supporting
system.

ITPs would be required for the final check up of all items essential for inspections &
approvals. These plans shall carry relevant tests & inspections rows or columns
depending on defined or included activities.
These plans shall also contain hold & release points as well as test checks & surveillance
points. All activities shall be dealt in accordingly.
Number if ITPs?
It is big issue to decide how many inspections should be planned for any project?
Based on experience & works interests’ it has been seen that excessive inspections do not
cater for a good quality requirement controls.
Inspections should be conducted in a proposing manner by the construction site
personnel.
Inspections should be conducted in a decisive manner by the construction quality
personnel.
Inspections should be conducted in a supervising manner by the consulting quality
personnel.
Inspections should be conducted in a surveillance manner by the consulting quality
personnel.
All relevant personnel must be given procedural opportunities to share responsibilities at
various levels.
It may not be necessary to create hundreds of work items for thorough technical
inspection when all method statements have been approved.
Excessive scheme for inspections may allow hold points that would jeopardize the
progress on works while simultaneously, minimum level of inspections may jeopardize
work qualities.
Moderation must be calculated to keep inspections in such an optimum style that least
paperwork is required with maximum level of quality achievement.
Work input should build a degree of confidence in the construction personnel while the
engineer end must enjoy trust of all personnel involved with project.
ITPs should be approved & sequenced in such a way that progress should move smoothly
with minimum hold points while surveillance should keep overall inspection eyes.
