Ancilla Stuns Conference-Leading Jackson

PLYMOUTH – The Ancilla College men’s basketball team stunned MCCAA Western Conference
leader Jackson Community College on Saturday, holding off the Jets for a 74-69 victory.

Antonio Cannon posted a double-double for the Chargers (4-13, 3-6 MCCAA Western), collecting 20
points and 10 rebounds on the day to give Ancilla consecutive victories for the first time this season.

“Our guys did a good job of making corrections after the last time we played Jackson,” said Ancilla
men’s basketball coach Greg Neeley. “We were much better at limiting their offensive rebounds,
keeping them out of transition, and identifying their three point shooters.”

Ancilla was clearly the more energized of the teams in the first half, frustrating Jackson (15-7, 7-2
MCCAA Western) at both ends of the floor and claiming a 40-27 halftime lead. The Chargers shot 64
percent as a team that half and consistently forced the Jets into tough shots throughout the period.

Five players reached double figures in scoring for Ancilla, including Cannon, Joby Renbarger (13),
Michael Hornback (12), Isaiah Christy (10), and Josh Wilson (10).

Ancilla also dominated the visitors in both free throw attempts (25-9) and total rebounds (38-28).

“We got contributions from a lot of guys,” said Neeley. “Our scoring was balanced and we shared the
ball well.”

The Chargers resume play on Monday, Feb. 7 when they when they travel to Lansing, MI, to play
MCCAA Western Conference rival Lansing Community College. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
EST.
