The landscape architecture program at the University of Pennsylvania School of Design is

widely regarded as the world’s leading center for advanced work in the field. Strengths in
design and invention, history and theory, ecology and technology, media and visualization, and
urbanism and contemporary culture are the five core knowledge bases that direct teaching
and research in the department. These bases are further enriched through a commitment to
cross-disciplinary work and international practice. Many of our advanced studios and classes
entail travel and research into a wide range of exemplary international sites that invoke often
complex issues of cross-disciplinary scope.

The Master of Landscape Architecture Class of 2008 is distinguished by exceptionally high

levels of achievement. The following pages offer a glimpse into the creativity and range of each
graduate’s work. The faculty is particularly impressed by their imagination and intelligence,
proud of their growth and maturation as professionals, and anticipating great things yet to
come as they embark out into the world of practice.
