●Briefly discuss various aspects of work force diversity and ethics?

■Workforce diversity means that organizations are becoming more

heterogeneous in terms of gender, race and culture. Employees don’t set aside
their cultural values and lifestyle preferences when the come to work.
The challenge for organizations, therefore, is to make them more
accommodating to diverse group of people by addressing their different lifestyle,
family needs and work style etc.
One of the most important challenges faced by organizations is adapting people
who are different of nationality, culture, race etc but in the modern world of global
business, not hiring the best person for the job because of gender, race,
education, religion or age is foolish thing done by any organization. Also those
organizations who give value to these differences and hire ignoring the race,
color, nationality etc are finding their organization profit higher, therefore
increasing company’s competitiveness.
For example, in America the American workforce has changed dramatically over
the last 50 years. In the 1950s, more than 60% of the American workforce
consisted of white males. Today, the American workforce is a better reflection of
the population with a significant mix of genders, race, religion, age and other
background factors, so the long-term success of any business needs for a
diverse body of talent that can bring fresh ideas, perspectives and views to their
work.
Diversity is beneficial to both the organization and the members.
Diversity brings potential benefits such as better decision making and improved
problem solving, greater creativity and innovation, which leads to enhanced
product development, and s
Diversity also provides organizations with the ability to compete in global
markets.
Diverse organizations will be successful as long as there is a sufficient amount of
communication within them, communication is vital to the performance of an
organization.
Diversity is not only about preventing unfair discrimination and improving equality
but also valuing differences and spanning such areas as age, race, culture and
religious belief.
Thus, valuing our differences in work place not only because morally and
ethically right thing to do but when we open our mind and hearts we feel better
about ourselves.

Ethics
It is a set of rules or principle that defines right and role conduct. It deals with
right and wrong behavior.
Ethical issues in the organization are
1-The right to privacy
2-Discrimination of pay
3-Glass ceiling effect
4-Sexual harassment

An employee working in the organization can not be forced to disclose certain
information which is of private nature.
2-Discrimination of pay:
All employees should be treated equally whether they are male or female or
minorities. It is not right to discriminate among employees
on basis pay and promotion. For example women are given less pay although
they work equal as men do, but there is discrimination consider between men
and female.
3-Glass ceiling effect:
The invisible barrier that blocks females and minorities from ascending into
upper level of the organization and it shows that organization only want to see its
countrymen at top.
4-Sexual Harassment:
An unwelcome sexual request for sexual favor and any verbal or physical
conduct toward an individual creating hostile environment, also unreasonably
interferes with an individual‘s work and effecting employee’s employment
opportunities.
To avoid sexual harassment
▪A policy should be made and top management should support it.
▪There should rules and punishments to avoid sexual harassment.
▪Develop awareness among the employees what are equal right of man and
women, create working environment in such a way that every one respect each
other and training of managers is needed to deal sexual harassment issues.

▪Similarity
Similarity refers to our tendency to group things together based upon how similar
to each other they are. In the figure, we tend to see two rows of red dots and two
rows of black dots. The dots are grouped according to similar color.
