Expression of Interest (EoI)


KTC invites Expression of Interest from suitable and experienced companies
for supply, Implementation and Configuration of;

1. Handheld Electronic Ticket Issuing Machines (ETIM) (600 Nos.)


alongwith all necessary accessories and softwares embedded into the
ETIMs.

2. MIS software for monitoring of ticket sales and generation of various


reports from a centralized computer.

The above listed tasks of this project have to be completed within 3 calender
months from the date of issue of work order.

Technical Description – Handheld Electronic Ticket Issuing machines

This initiative of KTC is to enable its conductors to issue tickets using the
brand new Electronic Ticket Issuing Machine. This machine has to be
lighter in weight which will help generate tickets electronically and print
them and validate monthly or quarterly passes as well as renew the passes on
board.
The ETIMs shall meet the following specifications;

• 32 bit advanced micro controller based system with minimum 512


kb program memory and 4 MB extendable upto 64 MB Flash Data
memory.
• Embedded operating firmware.

• Display minimum of 20 Characters / 8 Lines Graphic display with


LED backlit and with proper visibility in day light as well as
during night.
• Thermal printer with printing speed @ minimum 8 lines 50
min/sec, normal font size of 32 characters per line, accommodate
20mt paper roll and print at a speed of one ticket per second.
• Shall have USB2.0 full speed device port for data uploading and
downloading directly.
• Intelligent charging battery with capacity to charge fully within 4
hours with in-built auto charge termination. Having capability to
print minimum 3500 tickets in one charging.
• Should have operating temperature, storage temperature, battery
temperature and humidity as per standard norms.
• Should be temper proof and capable of withstanding all climatic
conditions.

The ETIMs should have provision for the following:

• They shall be rugged.


• They shall be equipped with GPRS System with which data of
ticket sales can be monitored by a Central computer server.
• They shall have user friendly software and easy to use by the staff
of KTC.
• Provision for issuing tickets, group tickets and passes.
• Capacity to configure more than 500 different routes with each
route having upto 250 stages.
• Provision for downloading upto 50 route fare tables (each with at
least 200 fare stages from PC.
• Provision for incrementing and decrementing current fare stages.
• Provision for recording inspection details like inspectors ID code,
stage, time and remark..
• Provision to store more than 10,000 ticket details with complete
ticket information.
• Provision for reports such as report of current passengers for
verification by inspectors, fare stage report, collection report,
inspection report etc.
• Record details related to bus break down, diesel entries, bust start
time, toll payment etc.
• Provision for reading RF smart card read & write
capacity(Optional).

Technical Description – MIS software for monitoring of ticket sales and


generation of various reports from a centralized computer.

KTC requires regular monitoring of ticket sales across its various routes and
hence requires a Management Information System (MIS) that shall be
deployed on a centralized server at KTC. Responsible authorities shall
monitor the ticket sales on different routes. The MIS applications shall be
capable of.
• Record data of how many tickets are sold per day per journey.
• Which are the profit-making and loss-making routes,
• Which journeys are more preferred by passengers etc.
• Provision to generate various reports such as but not limited to;

• Fare stage report


• Stage wise report ( all current selected trips)
• Trip sheet report
• Collection report detailing collection of the day, total number of
passengers, luggage, handicapped, half fares (all current,
selected trips).
• Passenger analysis report with load factor.
• Vehicle-wise KMPL report.
• Driver-wise KMPL report.
• Diesel consumption report.
• Inspection report detailing checker ID with time and remarks.

Government of Goa has already set up a state-wide network called as Goa


Broad Band Network (GBBN) which has provided network connectively to
all the state Government offices across Goa state and the GBBN network is
operational under the jurisdiction of DoIT, Goa. KTC is also covered under
the GBBN network. Government of Goa has also set up state-of art State
Data Centre (SDC) that is fully operational under the jurisdiction of DoIT,
Goa. Network connectivity from KTC to SDC over GBBN is also available.

With all the above said infrastructure available, the proposal MIS application
shall be hosted on the SDC servers.
The MIS application has to be preferably on open source web platform so
that the application can be accessed over internet/intranet.

The above exercise is to bring in transparency in ticket sales. Conductors


will also save time and energy as the machines will be faster to operate and
will provide minute-by-minute data of ticket sales.

Preference will be given to companies having prior similar experience for


some transport Corporations. The vendor should have supplied and operated
ETIMs (minimum 1000 nos.) for State transport undertaking/Private bus
operator also deployed a centralized monitoring MIS in the last 3 years and
should have sufficient experience and have network/authorized persons to
service the ETIMs in the State of Goa. Documentary evidences wherever
necessary has to be enclosed with the bidder’s responses.

Interested vendors can submit their responses in sealed envelopes


superscripted “EoI for ETIM” giving complete details of their proposed
product and MIS application alongwith the implementation methodology,
inspection of goods and training to KTC staff, support methodology and
complete technical specifications of their proposed product. Also, the vendor
has to provide the infrastructure requirements/specifications including the
operating system and backend RDBMS for deployment of the proposed MIS
application in the SDC.

This EoI can be purchased from KTCL Head Office, Accounts Section
payment of Rs. 1000/- on a written request or alternatively downloaded from
the website www.goa.gov.in from 01.2.2011 to 11.2.2011 during working
hours. In case the EoI is downloaded from the website, the EoI document
fee of Rs. 1000/- has to be paid in the form of D.D. drawn in favour of
“Managing Director, Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd.” with validity of
90 days.

Subsequent to the selection of eligible vendors based on their responses


submitted for this EoI a closed tender shall be floated only to these selected
vendors of this EoI.

Vendors have to submit their responses to this EoI (which has to be valid for
90 days) to the undersigned on or before 11.2.2011 at the address given
below:-
