MODERN ENGINEERING WORKS

MODERN ENGINEERING WORKS with Mr. ANVAR.KV, a well

experienced industrialist as managing partner and Mr. HANEEFA.KV, Mr.

ISHAK.KV and Mr. SAMEER.KV, as partners was established on 28th

October 1993 at Anakkayam ,Malappuram ,Kerala, India.

MODERN ENGINEERING WORKS was started with a mission to

provide world class quality of ‘Barbed wires’. The production activity

involves manufacturing of ‘Barbed wires’ out of ‘Galvanized Iron’ (GI) wire

by using TATA WIRON brand of GI wires supplied by TATA STEEL LTD

(wire division) Mumbai.

These wires are high quality in nature with superior ‘Zinc coating’.

Marketing of the product has been carried out through Kerala and the

customer includes Hardware dealers, Fencing contractors and Government

agencies like Material industries, Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) etc.

MANAGEMENT
 MANAGEMENT COMMITMENT

The top management of the organization is committed to develop,

implement and continuously improve the quality management system. The

top management ensures the continual improvement and effectiveness of the

quality management system by:-

• Communicating to the organization about the


importance of meeting customer as well as

applicable regulatory requirements

• Establishing the quality policy

• Ensuring that quality objectives are established

• Conducting management reviews

• Ensuring the availability of resources


QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

• The quality management system established and implemented for the


purpose of certification

• While designing the quality management system necessary planning

has been due to ensure adequate resources and information for successfully

carrying out the process activities and monitoring the success rate

• The system designed to have effective monitoring ,measurement and

analysis leading to implementation of auction to achieve planned results and

continual improvement

RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

PROVISION OF RESOURCES

• Organization has provided the resources required to implement and

maintain the quality management system and continually improve its

effectiveness

The organization is provided with:-

1. competent staff

2. good working environment

3. high quality and accurate machineries

4. adequate stocks of raw materials

5. well equipped and advanced production unit

6. communication and other facilities

• The quality management team is responsible for providing the

necessary resources for implementing and maintaining a quality

management system. Resource requirement planning is done on a short term

and long term basis to implement and maintain the quality management
system and continually improve its effectiveness and to enhance customer

satisfaction by meeting customer requirements

The points considered during resource planning are:-

1. market related issues

2. growth projections

3. facilities and equipments

4. cost reduction

5. human resource development

6. quality objectives

• The long term resource requirements is determined once in six months


and reviewed during management review. The managing partner

sanctions the necessary resources for day to day (short term)

operations. Chief Manager – administration sanctions necessary

resources up to an upper limit as per the internal agreement. The


resource sanction is done as per the request from the concerned

department heads.
HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

All activities of the organization are planned, implemented and

mentioned by qualified personnel. Personnel performing works affecting

service quality are competent on the basis of appropriate education, training,

skills and experience.


COMPETENCE AWARENESS AND TRAINING

A requirement for each job and the competency is determined based

on education, experience, skills/training required for each job. Suitable

personnel for each job are decided. A list of such personnel is maintained.

Training need of personnel is identified and training is provided or

other actions to satisfy those needs are taken

Evaluation of effectiveness of training is done through tests /

evaluation by department heads

Awareness of personnel of the relevance and importance of their

activities and how they contribute to the achievement of the quality objectives

is ensured through training

Records of evaluation, experience, skill and training for each person

are maintained.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

The management provides suitable and healthy work environment by

maintaining a perfect balance between physical and psychological needs of

employees

This includes physical functions like bright lighting in all areas of

operations, well equipped toilets, safety, canteen etc.


PURCHASING
PURCHASING PROCESS

The purchasing process including criteria for evaluation, selection, re-

evaluation, of vendors for the purchase of all the material and services

(external maintenance /calibration activities and contractors) are done as per

the purchase procedure.

PURCHASING INFORMATION

• The information regarding specified purchase requirements is

provided to the vendors at the time of purchase. This information

shall be clearly mentioned within the purchase order or attached as an

appendix to the purchase order.

• The information shall cover wherever necessary details like,

requirements like approval, process and equipment used by the

purchaser, qualification of personnel and quality management system

requirements.

• Wherever necessary the adequacy of the specified purchase

requirement are counter verified by the user department/ expert prior

to their communication to the suppliers.

Materials are inspected and verified for conformation to specifications

wherever applicable.

INDIAN STANDARDS SPECIFICATION FOR

GAVANIZED STEEL BARBED WIRE

(METHOD-A (LOWA TYPE)

The barbs shall have four points and shall be formed by twisting two

point wires, each two turns, tightly around both line wires making altogether

four complete turns.


THE OPERATOR SHALL ENSURE THE FOLLOWING

• Tightness of barbing

• Position of barbs

• Distance between barbs

• Number of twisting between barbs

• Sharpness of barbs ( as per IS specification


Type-A)

• Make the coiling proper

• Tie it up using wire pieces

• Packing

• Tagging
• All the reading shall be recorded on production

RAW MATERIAL
GALVANIZED MILD STEEL WIRE

(TATA WIRON)

The Galvanized Barbed Wire shall be manufactured from Galvanized

Mild Steel Wire conforming to “IS: 280-1978”. Mild steel wire for general

engineering purpose. The galvanizing shall conform to the requirements as

laid down for medium coated wire in “IS: 4826-1979”. Hot-dipped galvanized

coating on round steel wires.

MEASUREMENT, ANALYSIS AND IMPROVEMENT

The firm has planned and implemented the monitoring, measurement

and analysis and improvement process needed in various production areas of

the firm.

A system has been planned and implemented to monitor measure and

analyze the conformity of the quality management system and monitor and

measure the effectiveness of the customer care service and the support system

as per the specified documented requirements.

The firm uses, various parameters including customer satisfaction to

demonstrate the conformity of the service system

Internal analysis are conducted to ensure the conformity of the quality

management system and continual improvement of the effectiveness of the

quality management system is ensure through improvement in process an

revision objectives both at the organizational and functional level.
