ROBOPIRATES………version 1.

o
EVENT OBJECTIVE:
Build a manually (wired/wireless) controlled robot which can complete
the given track in the least possible time and must be able to pick and
drop the treasure at the destination point.

EVENT FORMAT:
It consists of two rounds:
1. race to the treasure land round
2. get the treasure round
(Teams that qualify in the first round will compete in the final
round).
EVENT RULES:
RACE TO THE TREASURE LAND ROUND:-
Arena:
 In this, a common race track is provided for all the competing
teams.
 The track may consist of:
o Mountain zone: Steep curves, heights
o Highway zone: speed breakers, toll gates
o Safe zone: small water bodies –pond, river streams
o Risky zone: pebbles, sand dunes, muddy surface area,
o Forest zone: forest environment-may be selectively placed
plants,
Event format:
 Every team is given two runs on the track. Out of this, only one
run is considered with least time duration.
 The teams are selected in either ways:
A) A cut off time is considered after all the teams complete
the track run. It is the best least time taken by any team among all
the participants, and then points are awarded to every team as per
the formulae below
Team performance: T= t+td
Where t=total time taken to complete the track,
td= extra time added when bot touches the track
boundaries, or obstacles, or goes out of track.
(In case of tie, P=p-q
p=no. of points for track completion,
q=no. of points deducted for touching any obstacles, bot stopping
for more than the time limit in any one of the zones .
If still a tie exists, then both teams will be called for race again)
or
B) It can be a one-one event where teams are chosen
randomly for the race such that the team with least run time is the
winner of the race.
(This depends on the number of participants on the day of the
event. Be prepared for any format).

GET THE TREASURE ROUND:

Arena:
 All the qualified teams are provided with an arena consisting
of treasure.
 A desert sand surface with different coins randomly placed in
it.
 Coins used are Indian currency Re.1 or Rs.2 and are enclosed
in thermocol pieces.
 Different coins are:
o Gold coins –coins enclosed in gold colored thermocol----100 pts
o Silver coins - coins enclosed in silver colored thermocol---50 pts
o Bronze coins- coins enclosed in green colored thermocol---25 pts
o Black coins - coins enclosed in black colored thermocol----0 pts
(black money is never valued)
Event task:
 Each team has to search for the coins and then pick them and
drop the coins at the destination.
 Point A:
 Firstly all the teams have to accumulate max. no of coins to
this place. Up to this point, teams can drag/push the coins but
not beyond this.
 Point B:
 It is the place to deposit the coins .From point A, teams
require to carry (picking, holding ability) the coins to this
place, no dragging or pushing is allowed during this.
 At a time only max of 2 coins can be picked to drop at the
destination. In case of a gold coin, no other coin can be
taken along with this.
Robot specifications:
 Dimensions: 25×25×25 (cms) Weight: 3kg (max) [tolerance of
5% is given in the above values].
 Potential difference between any two points must not exceed
12V. External power supply is not allowed.
 Power supply must be on the board itself.
 Wired or wireless robot. If wireless, please handover the RC
control before and after match completion to avoid any
disturbances from/for other teams.
Important to remember:
 A bot has to pick/hold the coins between collection and
destination point.
 Concentrate on deposition as no points are awarded for
searching and it just makes work easy for your opponents.
 Penalty points (-10 pts) in case of coin drop, fight /hassle
between teams for coins, and bot moving out of arena.
 A bot may change it size during the event but no physical
separation is allowed.
Event duration:
 The total duration for this round is 10/12 minutes.
 In this, first 5/6 minutes for searching the coins and collecting
them at point A.
 Next 5/6 min for dropping the coins at point B from point A.
Winning criteria:
Teams with maximum no of points at the end will be the winner of the
event.
Points: 10 points for each coin dropped at point B.
At point A, (no of coins left over)× (10 points)
Therefore, for n coins dropped at B,
Total points = (10×n) + (individual values of n coins)-[(10×no.of coins
left at A) + (penalty points for violations of event rules)]
GENERAL RULES:
• A team can have maximum of 4 members. Members can be from
same or different colleges.
• Every team member should bring their college id cards
compulsory to prove their identity.
• All the required accessories are to be brought. No assistance is
