IGNORANCE: SATAN’S GREATEST WEAPON

2 Corinthians 2:11; Hosea 4:6; Isaiah 5:13

Satan utilizes many weapons against humanity. However, ignorance is Satan’s greatest weapon in keeping
people in perpetual captivity and bondage.
This is the reason Satan steals away or catches away the word of God that is sown in people’s hearts
immediately lest the people understand, acquire knowledge and be saved (Matthew 13:3,4,19; Mark
4:3,4,14,15; Luke 8:5,11,12). This is why he blinds people’s minds lest the light of the glorious gospel of
Christ should shine unto them. He knows that the light of the gospel has the power to banish the darkness of
ignorance (2 Corinthians 4:3,4).
If Satan can keep an individual in ignorance either by preventing him from hearing the word, distracting him
from concentrating when the word is preached or taught or catching away the seed that is sown
IMMEDIATELY after it is sown, he would have scored a great victory over that individual.
Satan will always take advantage and lord it over whoever is ignorant of his devices (2 Corinthians 2:11).
Ignorance fetters in bondage and captivity. Knowledge of the truth is the pathway to freedom and dominion
(Hosea 4:6; Isaiah 5:13; John 8:32,36).
There are many areas in which stark ignorance is responsible for people’s captivity. However, three major
areas are highlighted in this study.

IGNORANCE OF SATAN’S DEVICES

2 Corinthians 2:11-14; 11:1-15; ; Matthew 13:3,4,19; Mark 4:3,4,14,15; Luke 8:5,11,12; Genesis 3:1-15;
49:17; Romans 16:20; Revelation 12:9-11; Galatians 1:6-9

Ignorance is Satan’s greatest tool and weapon in gaining victory over people. However the believer need not
be ignorant of the devices of the Devil for we have the privilege of knowing the truth that sets free (John
8:32).
“Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices” (2 Corinthians 2:11).
Satan utilizes many devices to keep people in captivity and except we know these devices, we can fall foul
of them:
(1) Stealing the word that is sown in the heart as soon as it is sown (Matthew 13:3,4,19; Mark
4:3,4,14,15; Luke 8:5,11,12).
(2) Sowing tares alongside the good seed in other to do damage, hinder the proper growth of the good
seed and hence nullify the possibility of an harvest (Matthew 13:24-30,36-43,7,22).
(3) Coming like the Old Serpent – appearing caring and compassionate, however subtle, deceptive and
at last will bite (Genesis 3:1-15; 49:17; Romans 16:20; Revelation 12:9-11).
(4) Coming like the fowler – using temptation to bait the believer. To fall for Satan’s temptation is to
fall into Satan’s trap (Matthew 4:1-13; Luke 4:1-13).
(5) Coming like the distractor –Brings a substitute program to catch our attention and occupy us, away
from the gospel (2 Corinthians 2:11-14).
(6) Offers a substitute gospel, another Jesus and another spirit (2 Corinthians 11:1-15; Galatians 1:6-9).

IGNORANCE OF SATAN’S DEFEAT

Colossians 2:14,15; 1:13,14; Luke 10:17-19; John 16:11; 12:31; 19:30; 17:4; Acts 10:38; Revelation 12:9-11

Satan is already defeated. Satan’s defeat was made public for all to see and know (Colossians 2:14,15;
1:13,14). At Calvary, Christ declared “It is finished” (John 19:30; 17:4). The chapter of defeat for the
believer is closed. A new era of victory for the saint has arrived! Stand up for your legal and redemptive
right. Bask in the sunshine of your dominion.
Too many believers are ignorant of Satan’s defeat. Because Satan still goes about like a roaring lion seeking
who he may devour, some saints think he has not been defeated (1 Peter 5:8,9). Because he is still walking
up and down the earth, to and fro in world accusing some, afflicting others, some people think that Satan is
still at large untamed (Job 1:6-22; 2:1-7; Zechariah 3:1-5; Acts 10:38; Revelation 12:9-11).
Satan knows he is defeated. Let him know that you know he is defeated. Let him know that you know that
he knows that you know that he is defeated!
The prince of this world has already been judged and cast out (John 16:11; 12:31). Satan has already fallen
like lightning from the sky (Luke 10:17-19).
It is for the believer to rise up and live in the light of Satan’s defeat and the victory of the cross. You are
God’s enforcement agent saddled with the responsibility of enforcing Satan’s defeat.

IGNORANCE OF SAINTS’ DOMINION

Luke 10:17-19; 9:1-6; 1 Corinthians 15:57; 2 Corinthians 2:14; 10:3-5; Romans 16:20; Mark 16:15-20;
Ephesians 6:11-16; 1 Peter 5:8,9; James 4:7; Hebrews 11:33-35.

The believer has power over Satan (Luke 10:17-19; 9:1-6). The dominion of saints EVERY TIME and
EVERY WHERE is an accomplished fact (1 Corinthians 15:57; 2 Corinthians 2:14). The Old Serpent is
bruised under our feet (Romans 16:20).
It is left for the believer to walk in the knowledge of his victory, to cast out demons, pull down strongholds,
quench every fiery dart of the Devil, stop the mouth of the roaring lion, resist the Devil and put his armies to
flight (Mark 16:15-20; 2 Corinthians 10:3-5; Ephesians 6:11-16; 1 Peter 5:8,9; James 4:7; Hebrews 11:33-
35).
Too many believers are ignorant of their victory and dominion. The Devil terrorizes them at will because of
their ignorance. An ignorant prince can inadvertently serve a knowledgeable servant (Galatians 4:1-7;
Ecclesiastes 10:7).
Rise up and walk in victory. Stand up and claim your dominion. Exercise your redemptive right. Enjoy your
God-given liberty. Walk in the victory of the cross. Tread upon serpents and scorpions.
