Instructions for submitting Assignment 1 via AssignIT.

The following notes will help in your preparation of this submission.

Your submission via AssignIT will require a single word document to be submitted
on line and that document must contain the following elements

• A cover sheet with student details –

o Assignment cover sheet for internal courses
o Assignment cover sheet for external courses
• A PowerPoint presentation (converted into a word file – see below)
• A one page summary of the presentation
• A general journal containing the relevant opening and reversing entries

Part 1 a of the assignment requires students to create a presentation using PowerPoint.

The presentation should consist of no more than 10 slides and each slide should be
accompanied by speaker’s notes. More specific details are provided in the course
information booklet. The required format is that students should initially create a
PowerPoint slide outlining the key issues they wish to discuss. Once the slide has
been created students should then switch to notes view by going to the “View” menu
and selecting “Notes View”. Speaker’s notes may then be entered in the box provided
below the slide that has been created. It is suggested that the font “Times New
Roman” is used with a size of “14” to make the notes easy to read.

Once this process has been completed for all of your slides you will need to convert
this file into a word document. Make sure you save your file first then do the
following.

• Click on the “Office Button” and hover over the “Publish” option. From there
you can click on “Create Handouts in Microsoft Office Word
• A new dialog box will then appear. Select the option “Notes below slide”. The
button “Paste” at the bottom of this dialog box should also be selected.
• Click “OK” and a new word document will then be created that includes your
PowerPoint slides and associated notes.
• Save this file with the following file name
o Your student ID – FA 1 Assignment 1 2009

The file you have just saved is the one you will submit

Your final step in this process is to copy and paste the cover sheet, presentation
summary and general journal entries you have completed into the file you have just
created. Once this has been done and you have a single file you are satisfied with you
can submit it via AssignIT.

For those wishing to create a PDF file from a word file to ensure your formatting is
preserved when printing you can do this using Office 2007 and the “Save As...”
Function or you may like to try the following website that was recommended to me.

I do need to point out that I have not used this myself and in no way endorse the site
nor is it endorsed or supported in anyway by the University.

You do not have to use this and submission in word is fine but I hope some of you
find it useful.
