AIRPLANE LANDING GUIDENCE SYSTEM

AIM:
The vital concern of this project is to guide the airplanes for landing
even in poor visibility conditions.

ABSTRACT:
This project is mainly proposed for avionics. In recent years, lots of
plane crashes were happened because of poor weather conditions. Because
of poor weather, the pilots will loose their runway visibility, so the planes
are landed in improper way which leads to a big crash. To avoid such
crashes, in this project, the pilot is guided with some reference data from the
ground control station in the airport, by using this data he will control the
flight parameters which will lead to a proper way of landing.
The airplane will be equipped with lot of parameters for safety
purpose, along with that a controller will be connected which will act as a
master to control all the parameters. Apart from that a RF transceiver will be
used in both ground station and airplane for communication.
Whenever a flight comes, first the runway is checked to traffic and a
clearance signal will be transmitted to the airplane for landing, for this the
controller in the plane will send an acknowledge to the ground station.
Following that latitude and longitude of landing zone along with direction to
head will also be sent by the ground station controller. Based on the received
information the pilot will adjust the parameter of the airplane to hit that
landing zone. Once if he reaches the landing zone the controller will respond
a signal to the ground station. The pilot receives the data and drives the
plane according to it. The last data will send the above mentioned data along
with data which indicates the beginning of the runway. Once if the flight
lands on the runway a IR sensor in that runway senses the plane and sends a
signal to the ground station controller. As soon as the ground station
controller get the IR signal, it will immediately transmits a busy signal in the
RF transceiver, so the other plane which is planning to land will get the busy
signal and it will wait for the clearance signal. Once the landed plane crosses
the runway another IR sensor in the ending point of the runway will sense
the plane and it will send a signal to the microcontroller in the ground
station. Once the signal is received immediately the controller will send a
clearance signal to the other flight.
