A LESSON PLAN (Chemistry) – 4 Phase Format

Form : 4 Sejahtera
Date :
Time : 40 minutes
No. of Students : 30 students
Theme : Matter Around Us
Learning Area : 2.0 The Structure Of The Atom
Learning objective : 2.2 Synthesising atomic structure
Learning outcomes : Student is able to:
1. Describe the development of atomic model.
2. State the main 3 subtopic particles of an atom
3. Compare and contrast the relative mass and the relative charge of the protons, electrons
and neutrons.

Prior knowledge : Students know and understand about elements, compounds and mixtures.

A. Master Content Knowledge

(i) The development of the atomic model proposed by several scientists namely Dalton, Thompson, Rutherford,
Chadwick and Bohr.
(ii) 3 subatomic particles found in an atom namely proton, electron and neutron
(iii) The characteristics of the proton, electron and neutron.

B. Master Scientific Skills

(i) Classify the subatomic particles based on their properties
(ii) Compare and contrast these subatomic particles

C. Master Scientific Attitudes and Noble Value

(i) Appreciate the contribution of scientists towards human development.
(ii) Work cooperatively as a group

Teaching and Learning Resources :

Plastic rod and paper, crossword puzzle, marker pen and question sheet.

demonstration to elicit students prior knowledge
about static electricity

end of the class.
Closure/Review Cognitively: • The teacher asks students to summarize the lesson
• The teacher asks the students to state what they
(5 minutes) know about the atom so far.
Socially: • The teacher thanks the students for their
attentiveness and good behaviour
• The teacher advises the students to read more
about the atom.
• The teacher reminds the students to come early
for the next class.
Reflection:

Reminder:
While teaching, the science teaching must also make an attempt to integrate several elements that were discussed
in class. They are noble values, patriotism, environmental awareness/sustainable development. I will specifically
like to see this during macro teaching. You must at least integrate any TWO of them during micro-teaching. Most
important – they can be integrated at any part of the lesson – NOT necessarily during closure!
