We will continue to properly resource our TAFE system so we can provide training
opportunities for the NSW community and deliver highly skilled graduates to the workforce.
ACTION:
Create 3000 fully-funded training places for apprentices in areas of skills shortages
Maintain Labor’s concession fee structure to ensure our TAFE system remains
accessible to all
Improve links between schools and TAFE campuses to expand vocational options for
high school students
Labor has increased TAFE’s annual budget to more than $1.8 billion, with increases in
funding significantly outstripping inflation over the past five years. This has been matched
by rapid growth in enrolments, reflecting the confidence of NSW young people and job-
seekers in the quality of training that TAFE provides.
Labor believes these opportunities should be available to every NSW resident, regardless
of their financial circumstances.
The graduates of these apprenticeships and formal skills training will bring their skills and
experience to local communities across their lifetime. Their participation in the workforce
will stimulate further growth in these communities and across the State.
