February 28-March 3, 2011

Dear Families,
We hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. This week we will be having fun with Dr.
Seuss. We’ll review rhyming skills and have guest readers from the community come read to us
on Wednesday. Starting next week and for the rest of the month we will be completing our
assessment (AEPS) for the 2nd time this year. We’ll use the results from the AEPS as the
children’s end of the year progress report.
ART TO REMEMBER:
Orders, including payment and original artwork, should be brought to school by
Wednesday, March 2nd. The magnet is not FREE. If you do not wish to purchase anything
please return the packet with the magnet as soon as possible. Thank you!

READ ACROSS AMERICA

Read Across America is a celebration of reading centered on Dr. Seuss’ birthday
(March 2nd) and is directed and promoted by the National Education Association.
The goal of this program is to promote and encourage children to read. Bridgeport
will be celebrating in our own way by doing everything from guest readers to door
decorating and dress up.

Hopefully your Bridgeport Tiger will show their support for reading by …

2/28 Monday: Read Every Day! (Wear Red)

3/1 Tuesday: Team up with a Good Book! (Wear Team Jerseys and Colors)

3/2 Wednesday: Hats Off to Reading! (Wear a Hat)

3/3 Thursday: Snuggle Up with a Good Book! (Wear your PJs to school.)

3/4 Friday: Dress Up Like Your Favorite Book Character! (Book Character
Parade at the end of the Student of the Month celebration.)

Important Dates:
March 9th- NO PRESCHOOL (early release)
March 31st- Spring Pictures
April 4-8th- Spring Break

Have a great week! 
