Welcome to GoM
Congratulations on joining the Guardians of Mankind! As a new guardian, this guide will teach you
everything that you need to know to be the greatest guardian the universe has ever seen! At least
something close to that really. Filling these legendary pages is information pertaining to every element
of guardian life from the fabled "Ecoing" to the commonplace information such as weapons, terminal
usage, and objectives! Joining the Guardians of Mankind gives you all of the many rights that have been
afforded to our faction. Thanks to the riots of 2150, the Dominion gave GoM the sole production rights
to Emergency Medkits and free healthcare for life! So no need to worry about having low health, just
walk to your nearest medical terminal and select the highly expensive, but very free to Guardians, Nano
Surgery! So then trainee, empty your mind of any previous conceptions of what is good and what is evil.
Free yourselves from the shackles of your former self and step into the light; prepare to learn what it
truly means to be a member of the Guardians of Mankind.

Guardian Commandments
1) Universal peace must be strived for.
2) The way or ways to achieve universal peace are never written in stone.
3) Human life is the most sacred and valuable thing in the universe. It must be protected.
4) Never kill with out reason. Violence should only be used when it is the only remaining solution.
Never kill out of vengeance or emotion, and never kill a fellow Guardian with out order from an
Envoy or higher.
5) Every Guardian must swear to protect Mankind with all his/her strength and to strive to uphold
the ideals of The Guardians
6) Every Guardian is required to receive all the necessary training needed to protect Mankind, Be it
combat, economical, or educational. Unless ordered other wise by an Arbiter.
7) To die in the defense of peace or freedom is the greatest service one can do. Guardians never run
from battle unless an order of retreat is given by an Envoy or Higher.
8) All Guardians are required, if present, to attend the assembly’s of The Council.
9) A person's faction does not lower or heighten the worth of that person. No Guardian shall show
bias based on Faction.
10) If your department requires a uniform, you are to wear it unless stated other wise.
11) The Council and Consul are the authority above all Guardians. They are to be respected and
listened too.
12) All guardians are entitled to freedom of speech, and no one should ever take away that freedom

History
2307 - The Marketing Wars caused much civil unrest in all Dominion territories - shortage of items; price
escalation to pay for the fighting and conflict; intellectuals trying to restore reason and sense to the
Dominion; and citizen protests growing into riots. With the government evidently weakening in the face
of corporate power, it seemed as if the values the Dominion had sworn to uphold would soon be
forgotten as corporate concerns over profit overtook the management of the colonial communities. The
Marketing Wars were truly a trying time for all of humanity.

As a result, an odd evolution soon occurred. Rioters soon began to form into organized units;
intellectuals began to use some of these groups and focused their violence into specific and purposeful
plans of attacks, instead of random hostile acts. Riots became much less common and the protests
eventually grew into political maneuvers for the purpose of electing like-minded individuals to powerful
political offices. The smaller groups formed into like-minded larger groups whereby dynamic leaders
emerged. Solernus, a writer, academic and philosopher, known for his poetry and his doctrine of self-
rule headed the largest and gathered a growing following around his views. The masses began citing him
and espousing his philosophy with much regularity, eventually petitioning him to lead them. After much
persuasion he reluctantly agreed - but only on the condition of anonymity. Therefore he was known as
"The Poet".

Nearly 50 years after the onset of the Market Wars, the Guardians emerged, under the guidance of "The
Poet" and his council of aiming to bring about peace and to protect the future of mankind. Recognizing
the need for visible and operational leadership, they formed the Command Council. The Council
appoints its own successors - not through democracy but based on a pragmatic selection of the best
person for the job; each role is for life or until voluntary retirement. The movement grew even stronger
in the aftermath of the Independence War. The Guardians remain steadfast in their resolve against
uncontested rule of the colonies by a corporate-dominated government and in the rights of all to self-
govern. They believe only colonial communities should have the right to decide their own off-world
policy, and in a separate parliament elected by all the colonies.

The Guardians are very popular on the colonies as well as on Earth, gaining headway on two policies: a
message of accountability in the Dominion; and a belief in a corruption-free Dominion - they are
intolerant of known criminals even within their own ranks.

With the introduction of the Colonial Senate, the Guardians feel their time has come; a time to speak
rather than raise weapons, a time to use the Senate as a means to air concerns against the corporation
as well as bringing to light corruption in the highest law of the land, the Dominion Senate.

The Guardians put respect for mankind above all other rules, protecting the citizens from the corruption
of the Dominion, especially the organization sworn to protect the public - the Law Enforcement
Department. Their home is a sanctuary for those asking for help, and a war zone for those who seek to
restrain and lock up the freedom that is the people’s right.

Other Factions
In order to understand our place in the universe better, we must examine the other factions and their
roles. Eight factions make up the fabric of the society. Each faction can bring a different atmosphere to
the Universe whether by war, control of a colony and its mines or undermining prices on the market

Overview of Factions!
Factions are led by a leader who is elected by their members and who uses their abilities to take
colonies, make deals with other factions to help control the market or hire out as mercenaries.
Individual players are citizens of the Dominion, banded together in their factions they become a force to
fear.

Law Enforcement Department


Following the success of military centralization, The Law Enforcement Department was founded in
2112 in order to integrate all pre-Foundation

introductory phase was bloody and anarchic, with many law enforcement elements deserting their posts
in protest to the loss of national identity. Whereas military power could be conceded without major
changes to each region’s way of life, the centralization of police forces was a dramatic and rapid
reorientation of civil liberty many found difficult to accept. While violence and bloodshed erupted in
population centers, Parliament acted. Martial law was enacted for the first tim timee in The Dominion’s
history, and order was restored. Specialties:

Freedom Defense Corps


In 2073 Regular military forces of all former Terran nations were consolidated into a single
organization, forming the Freedom Defense Corps (F.D.C.). It was and still is the task of the F.D.C. to
protect all inhabitants of the GD from danger whether inside and outside. Clear guiding rules for the use
of martial violence were fixed in this Codex. The F.D.C. retains the traits of military organizations from
before The Foundation, i.e. they are too unwieldy a force to effectively deal with local

this day, their directive remains to seek out and annihilate threats to the Dominion from within and
without. They are known and feared as The Hammer of the Dominion.

Shadows
The Brotherhood believes “Might Makes Right”. The Brotherhood is a business, like any other.
Instead of being corporate thieves or thugs in uniform, they work for the family and themselves. Their
business is providing the good citizens of the Dominion with the things that they want, but can’t have
because of restrictive laws
aws and a controlling society. Living in the Dominion has become stale and
empty. There are so many rules and a restriction that life is almost not worth living. That’s why the
Brotherhood fights, to provide the things that human beings have always wanted, freedom. They do
their job from the shadows, striking down their enemies with a knife from the dark, and disappearing
back into the night. Some citizens seek them out for the drugs they sell, the women they introduce them
to while Corporate Executes avoid the shadows at all cost afraid to be caught in a web of lies, deceit and
drug addiction.

Colonization and Mining Guild

The
he CMG was created in 2156 with the sole task of colonizing the universe for economic growth and
the expansion of human civilization to the far
far-reaching
reaching corners of the universe. The C.M.G. has been
planningg and scheduling all actions regarding space colonization, which has given the organization
enormous political power. There are those who blame the CMG, an easy target for many. The CMG has
control of the means by which resources are found and mined. It’s easy to see how members of this
organization would divert the lion’s share of the wealth into their own pockets. Many believe the CMG
has grown too powerful too fast, and lawmakers and ministers did not anticipate this properly. Many
colonists view the CMG as the de-facto
facto government in space, and reject any jurisdiction of the
Dominion.

In 2295, due to the unchecked growth in power of the Colonization and Mining Guild (C.M.G.),
EuroCorere emerged as a corporate superpower following the absorption of Eastern European countries,
and the cheap labor and production facilities they held, into the European Union in the early 21st
century. Quickly becoming an internationally scaled manufacturer and a leading arms producer in the
2312 the Marketing Wars, EuroCore amassed enough capital to ensure its legacy and survival for
generations to come. EC continued to play a significant but passive role, winning several critical
terraforming and robotics patents in the 22nd century. EC continued to control manufacturing on Earth
and robotics research into the 23rd century, fueling mankind’s rapid colonization of space but playing a
minor role itself

Examining
xamining the domains of man in the twenty forth century, it is impossible for even the most die
hard Terrain patriot to deny the shift of power favors the government less and less with each passing
year, and this state of affairs has persisted for many dec
decades,
ades, at the very least. As the Global Dominion’s
“glorious expansion into the stars” (to quote a GD President of the time) falters in the epic void and
loneliness of the Outer Rim Territories Colonists find themselves dominated ever more by new masters;
those
hose of fine lunar business suits and false smiles. They are the executives. The age of the hyper-

corporation has begun.

Mercenaries of the Blood


Competition of the four multinational companies expanded into the so so-called
called “Marketing Wars”,
which started in 2307, brought forth further aggravation from a select few of FDC soldiers who saw
guerilla warfare countered slowly and unsuccessfully. A fractured coup was attempted by disgruntled
members of the FDC under the leadership of a man known only as “The Genera
General.” Stuck on an outpost
for years he and his men plotted and schemed to find a way to become proactive instead of reactive.
The FDC leadership discovered this plot and immediately ordered a kill on sight for the General and his
staff. They escaped and hidd using STS Genesis as their base of operations. Old warriors disgruntled with
FDC due to “rich” families buying commissions for their sons and daughters sought out the General and
his Blood Guild pledging loyalty to them. Thus the Mercenaries of the Bloo
Bloodd were formed.

Ranks
Guardian Council
The Guardian Council is the highest authority within the Guardians. The Council power
extends over all Guardians including the Consul. The Council consists of our Consul(s), and the
Arbiters of the Guardians of Mankind.

Protesters (R1): Guardian Protester. You can earn your right to be promoted by showing
interest in the Guardians.

Activist (R2): Considered an official Guardian member and can join departments.

Separatist (R3): Has command ability over lower ranks, answers to the Envoy’s and up. Can not
declare KoS.

Envoy (R4): Sub power and secretary to the Delegate's, orders are handed through Envoy's. Can
declare KoS’s. Can promote up to R2.

Delegate (R5): Has charge over their department while Arbiter is absent as well as second in
command for the department. Can not lead combat operations unless asked. Can declare KoS’s.
Can Promote up to R3.

Arbiter (R6): Voting Assembly members, leaders of departments including the Patriarch.
Arbiters can take lead over another department at any time should the Arbiter of that
department be not present, has authority over the Delegate's of that departments

Consul (R7): Main figure head, leader of the Guardians, has a tie breaking vote in everything, no
regular vote. Can not overturn a vote alone.

Departments
A department represents a subdivision or specialization within a faction. Departments typically
take responsibility for some internal aspect of the faction. For example, most factions have a
department dedicated to training of new recruits. Details about each department are usually available in
the faction's own forums.

Departments are created and headed by the appropriate rank within the faction. Only the leader of a
department can add members to it. Departments enjoy several benefits:

 Departmental Headquarters, which functions as an apartment which department members can


access on any colony.
 Department chat which only others in the department can access.
 Internal bank account, which can be managed by the department head and assigned funds to by
the R7 of the faction.
 Department title underneath the name of members when anyone looks them up in the citizen’s
database.

Note that Mercenaries do not have departments; instead they operate under cells, which are more
autonomous than departments.

Departments in GoM:
Guardian Council - Highest Authority. Also called Guardian High Council or the High Assembly.
Sentinels of Solernus - Main military force within the Guardians of Mankind.
Guardian Ambassadorial Order - External Affairs and political force behind the Guardians.
Humanitarian Aide Supply - Ensuring a stable source of supplies on Guardian colonies and medical force
in combat situations.
The Academy of the Phoenix - Providing classes within the Guardians of Mankind
Keepers of the Council- A elite fighting group that protects the council

Old Departments:
Inquisitors - Elite force within the Guardians of Mankind.
The Guardian Café- UC earning dept to bring factions together in a Café setting
Aurelian Reapers - Alternative military dept.
Solitarians - Military dept when Dain was R7
Guardian Peacekeepers - New members department
Birch Appetite – Restaurant department in the Hotel near Hemble way on Aurelia.

Mining
Mining is pretty straight forward. First go to the colony which have the materials you need. After
selecting what material you want to mine and the quality, you simply press 'Start mining'. Then select
the amount of materials and you've started mining. The mining screen has now been brought up. Here
you can adjust the energy (will make the mining go faster) but will increase the price. If you've a too high
energy level, cooling will be needed. In order for the mining terminal to not malfunction; the orange
indicator in the middle (heat) will show you if cooling is needed. If it's almost at the top (max) add
cooling or your mining session will be terminated. You can move around on the colony without
disturbing your mining session (or production session). However leaving the colony will cancel the
current session. At the top of the screen you can see the progress of your current session. You can bring
up the mining screen at any time and cancel it or changing the values (energy, cooling or amount).

Production
The Production Terminal uses some of the most advanced
production processes in existence to quickly refine minerals into
production parts and manufacture production parts into items
using schematics called "Production Modules”, (PMods for short).
PMods can be purchased from the terminal for an amount of UC
and will tell you all of the production materials you need to
manufacture the item.
