Abstract

We are now in information technology era, the demands on the use of computer

are uncontrollably increasing. Lots of institutions nowadays have already upgraded their

current system to survive the stiff level of competition. In the existing system, the

organization of topics is in manual manner as such the accuracy and clarity of the topics

are at stake. The researchers’ thesis project is Computer Aided Instruction in Islamic

Studies for Grade one of Eeman Institute Incorporated. This thesis project is being

proposed aiming to provide the institution a much effective method of delivering the

education to the pupils about the Islamic religion. It is equipped with module that will

help the teacher in preparing the lesson plan and its presentation; module that caters

storytelling, drills, practices, simulation, and games with corresponding different features

such as animations; module for improving the presentation of quizzes, preliminary

exams, unit test and periodical exams; module for computation of grades and generation

of progress report; module for providing security; networking and file maintenance;

module for archiving of data; module for reward system and module for generation of

reports on top scorers, least scorers and pupil’s information. After a thorough study on

the existing system and the proposal, the researchers therefore conclude that the proposed

system will resolve all problems cited by adapting this Computer Aided Instruction in

Islamic Studies.
Preface

Eeman Institute Incorporated is one of the private institutions in Cotabato City

that offers Islamic Studies as part of their curriculum. The institution was established in

the year 1994 and was founded by Datu Zamzamin L. Ampatuan.

The existing method of teaching in this institution is manual. Therefore, the

delivery of the topics is also manual and the effectiveness which includes the accuracy

and clarity are uncertain. The CAI system is designed to enhance the method of teaching

into more reliable and effective one. Its primary concern is to promote a quality education

enriched with the Islamic teachings. It has fully organized features of application which

includes guided drill and practices, simulation, tutorials and games. It also contains

animation, computer visualization of complex object and computer facilitated

communication between pupils and teacher. It will help the school in promoting their

vision of providing a quality education with Islam religion as its foundation. It will help

the teacher in organizing the topics and in his presentation of the topic to make it easy to

absorb and understand by the pupils. It will help mold the pupils into God-fearing, well-

disciplined and competitive ones.

The researchers proposed a Computer Aided Instruction to improve the

presentation of topics in Islamic Studies for grade one pupils that will encourage them to

study by catching their attention and interest. It is a restricted system that the pupils can

not proceed to next topic unless the teacher has set it or he has passed the drills taken for

the lesson. The proposed system will contain the following: module that will help the

teacher in preparing the lesson plan and its presentation; module that caters storytelling,

drills, practices, simulation, and games with corresponding different features such as
animations; module for improving the presentation of quizzes, preliminary exams, unit

test and periodical exams; module for computation of grades and generation of progress

report; module for providing security; networking and file maintenance, module for

archiving of data, module for reward system and module for generation of reports of top

scorers, least scorers and pupil’s information.

The first chapter of this thesis document will discuss about the history of the

school, the problems, the current system, the objectives and the scope and limitation. In

second chapter, the Theories that were used for the realization of this project will be

discussed. This includes the theory on using CAI as medium of learning, theory on

database system, Hierarchical Input Processing Output, Networking, Software Paradigm

and Normalization. The third chapter is all about the system design specification, system

function and system requirements.
