Television presentation broadcast on March 31, 2005 by PBS's "Live from
Lincoln Center"
Tony Award winners Audra McDonald, Patti LuPone, and Michael Cerveris star in
a semi-staged version of a legendary musical theater piece, directed by Lonny
Price and accompanied by a 56-piece orchestra. Based on the novel Fosca by
Igino Tarchetti and the film Passion d'Amore by Ettore Scola, Sondheim's
Passion, with a book by James Lapine, explores love and obsession through the
story of Giorgio (Cerveris), an officer in the 1863 Italian army who carries
on an affair through the mail with Clara (McDonald), a married woman. Then
Fosca (LuPone), the colonel's sickly, wretched sister, becomes obsessed with
Giorgio, and her passion begins to eat at his soul.
Mastered from VHS by BroadwayBarb and indexed so you can access each song.
There's a brief interview with Sondheim at the top and she moved the
intermission interviews with the cast to the end.

VOBs!
Cast: Reba McEntire, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Alec Baldwin
Broadway, like everyone, loves Reba McEntire. The redheaded Oklahoma firebrand
took on the one-night-only concert role of Nellie Forbush on June 9, 2005 the
role Mary Martin immortalized in the 1949 Rodgers & Hammerstein classic South
Pacific and the rialto s toughest critics, led by The New York Times Ben
Brantley, instantly surrendered. "Open-voiced and open-faced, she was born to
play Nellie," Brantley wrote of the Carnegie Hall benefit performance, adding
that the entire production was performed "in a state of nearly unconditional
rapture. It was one of those nights when cynicism didn t stand a chance."
Happily that enchanted evening can be shared with fans everywhere when "SOUTH
PACIFIC" IN CONCERT FROM CARNEGIE HALL comes to DVD. Completing the luxury
casting are Broadway and Hollywood icons Brian Stokes Mitchell and Alec
Baldwin, as, respectively, French planter Emile de Becque and wise guy sailor
Luther Billis.
DVD *MAY* also include The Nightingale.

also possible that 15 minutes of VTS_01_3.VOB and VTS_01_4.VOB are repeated,

In 1992, the American Broadway musical made an all-singing and all-dancing
comeback with the premiere of "Crazy For You," an adaptation of the George and
Ira Gershwin 1930 hit "Girl Crazy." Crammed with standards like "I Got Rhythm"
and "Embraceable You," "Crazy For You" featured sparkling direction by Mike
Ockrent and vibrant choreography by Susan Stroman, garnering the year's Tony
Award for Best Musical. Taped for television at New Jersey's Paper Mill
Playhouse under Ockrent and Stroman's supervision, the cast of "Crazy For You"
features Jim Walton, Stacey Logan, Jane Connell, Bruce Adler, and M*A*S*H*'s
Larry Linville. Now audiences everywhere can delight in the adventures of a
stage-struck playboy in a Nevada mining town -- where romance, mistaken
identities, and show-stopping musical numbers all add up to irresistible fun.
