Welcome to RaceView
RaceView is a one-of-a-kind product that provides a unique and complete NASCAR viewing
experience for fans. With RaceView you can watch who you want, when you want, and how you
want.

RaceView allows you to watch your favorite driver no matter where he is in the field as well as
listen to communication with his spotters and crew chief.

Finally, you can pause and rewind live action just like a DVR system. Catching highlights and
drivers’ reactions is as easy as rewinding, selecting a lap, and choosing a driver.

Launching Raceview
When launching RaceView, you should briefly see the loading screen with the following status message. It
may take some time to launch based on your specific computer configuration. Once the application has fully
loaded, you will see the Raceview Application Page.

RaceView Application Page
When you start RaceView, the first thing you will see after the loading screen is the RaceView
Application, which contains multiple content sections called “modules.”

Here are the program window modules clockwise from the top:

View Module
The primary feature of the Raceview Application Page is the View module (middle left). There are
two views in which to watch the race. The default view is Bird’s Eye View. In the following section,
each of the tabs of the View module will be described in more detail.

View Module – Bird’s Eye View


The Bird’s Eye View tab panel is the default panel when you first launch Raceview. This view is a top
view of the track and the relative positions of cars on the track.

This view allows you to select from the following sets of drivers:
Top 10
All Drivers
My Drivers – a customized set of drivers

View Module – Virtual Video


You can select the Virtual Video tab panel to get an exciting 3D rendered view of the cars as they
would look if you were actually at the track! In this view you have several options to adjust the
virtual camera and timeline to move to the exact point in the race you want to view. This view may
take some time to load. Please be patient.

Virtual Video Experience Controls -
The experience controls let you customize your NASCAR race viewing experience by directing what
you can see in the application.

Here are the experience controls from left to right:

Driver View menu Use this menu to select the driver you wish to watch.
Camera Angle menu The camera menu selections determine the view of the camera.
The application defaults Automatic when Virtual Video is first
selected. The following camera views are available: Automatic,
Top, Side, Front, Rear and Pit Road.
Zoom In button [+] Use this button to zoom in towards the action.
Zoom Out button [-] Use this button to take a wider view of the action.

Wrench Use this button to change the quality of the video. Note: this
button appears on many of the content modules. It allows you to
customize your individual modules by clicking on it.

To change the driver the camera is following, choose a new driver from the Driver View menu:

Virtual Video – DVR Controls
The DVR controls enable the user to pause, rewind, and fast forward the live or replayed event.
You can also quickly switch back to live action during a live race by pressing the “Live” button.

From left to right:

Live button Resumes live action when watching a live race


Rewind Rewinds 5 laps
Pause/Play Freezes or resumes the race action
Fast Forward Advances 5 laps
Slider Grab the slider to move to a particular part of the race – the
time already lapsed in the race is displayed on the right
FULL SCREEN button Expands the View module and Virtual Video tab panel – toggles
to a NORMAL SIZE button

Position Tracker Module


This module provides the ability to see a “battle” between three drivers (your selected driver and
the driver ahead and behind). You can see either MPH or Time Off Leaders as data points in this
module. If you roll over the cars you will get the driver name.

Use the Driver View menu to select a different driver for the module. By selecting “Leader” in this
menu, you are able to continually track the current leader throughout the race.

Use the “swap” arrows icon to replace the Position Tracker module with a different one of the
same size. The “swap” arrows allow you to customize your page with the content most important
to you.

Driver Telemetry Module


The driver telemetry module provides current race telemetry data for the selected driver. This is an
optional content module that you can add to your RaceView application. Again, use the “swap”
arrows to control and customize your RaceView experience.

Use the Driver View menu to select a different driver for the module. By selecting “Leader” in this
menu, you are able to continually track the current leader throughout the race.

The Driver Telemetry module displays the following information for the selected driver:

Rank Current rank of the selected driver


Time Off Leader Time off leader in current race
MPH Speedometer display of MPH
RPM (x1000) Tachometer display of RPM
Throttle Throttle bar with relative indicator
Brake Brake bar with relative indicator

In addition, it supports the following options:

Swap Arrows Replace your module with another module
Wrench Customize the module’s content

Audio Commander Module


To choose an audio source, select your audio preference from the Audio Commander module.

Note: When listening to the drivers’ channel, some drivers and teams talk more than others so you
may experience long periods of silence.

There are four audio choices:

Drivers Selects a specific driver and team


Radio Live race radio broadcast, provided by MRN or PRN
Officials Listen in on the NASCAR officials and competition
Scan All Scans all driver audio channels for active team chatter

To turn off audio, select the Mute button in the lower right corner of the Audio Commander
module.

Note: The audio in RaceView is delayed several seconds by NASCAR to edit out the occasional
“colorful” language from the drivers, crew chiefs, and spotters. You can only have One (1) Audio
Commander active at a time.

The Race Summary Module

The Race Summary Module provides key race information including:

Track name and race name flag status


Current flag status
Current lap number you’re viewing (live race lap may differ) and total laps
Current leader of the race
How many cars on the lead lap
How many caution periods
How many different drivers have led the race
How many lead changes
Best Lap Time
Top speed and driver’s badge*
Most laps led and driver’s badge*
Biggest mover (highest rank change) and driver’s badge*

*Moving your pointer over the driver’s badge will show you a larger badge and the driver’s
name.

By clicking on the “INFO” button located in the upper right corner, the race summary
Module will flip to the Race Info Module.

The Race Info Module provides key information on the current racetrack:

Track name and location


Track view
Track Details – type, length, shape

Race Timeline Bar


Under the Race Summary Module you will see the Race Timeline bar. It gives a visual
representation of key events as the race goes on from the green flag to the checkered flag.

The timeline begins on the left side with the green start flag and shows markers as the race
proceeds with a current lap marker that moves to the right and shows the current lap number. To
the right of the timeline is the Ticker button.

The Race Timeline bar displays the following types of markers depending on the event:

Green Green flag for race start or race resume


Yellow Yellow caution flag
Red Red stop flag
Blue Lead change

You can move your mouse over the marker to get additional details about the event.

Clicking the Ticker button on the far right of the timeline will switch the bar to the news ticker.
Clicking it again will bring you back to the Timeline. You can scroll left and right through the news
event messages on the ticker feed.

Race ticker bar provides live in-race updates from the NASCAR.com editorial team

The Leaderboard Module


The Leaderboard tab provides a complete list of important race data including:

Use the scroll bar on the right side to search through the driver list.

You can follow the specific race data for your favorite driver by clicking the Driver View menu
above the important race data listing.

You can sort by any category just by clicking the heading of the column. Clicking on a heading twice
will reverse the order. The following figure shows the field sorted by the Rank column:

The Wrench located in the upper right allows users to customize which leaderboard statistics you
would like to see populated in the columns.

Lap-by-Lap
This feature allows users to tour the race highlights using the Lap-by-Lap commentary feed
imported from the NASCAR.com website.

The lap-by-lap commentary shows the latest lap at the top and goes back through to earlier events
in the race as you scroll down the list. Use the scroll bar on the right side to scroll through the lap
event list.

You will also see flag status changes on the right side of lap number headings when they occur.

Pit Stats
The Pit Stats tab provides the complete pit stop data for selected driver. You can change the
displayed driver data by using the Driver View menu above the car image in the window.

Top Navigation Dropdown Menus


Located in the upper right of the Raceview Application page are the top navigation dropdown
menus.

My Trackpass – Upon click of the “My Trackpass” dropdown menu you are able to navigate to any
of the NASCAR.com/trackpass applications. The applications include: Pitcommand, Scanner and
Radio.

My Preferences – Upon click of the “My Preferences” dropdown menu you are able to navigate to
your RaceView page preferences and layout preferences dialog.

My Preferences Layout allows the users to select one of four (4) different layouts.

My Preferences General allows the users to customize their Raceview experience with RaceView
skins, favorite driver and driver selection order.

Help – Upon click of the “Help” dropdown menu you have access to the Raceview user guide and
FAQ troubleshooting documentation.
