The MSc Supply chain Management is taught in English with a compulsory foreign language
module integrated into the programme.
ISLI programme proposes before the beginning of courses in September 40 hours of French
courses to students wanting to improve their French language skills.
Non-speakers will study French between October and April (beginners to advanced). French
speakers may chose from a number of other foreign languages (English, German, and
Spanish…).
FUNDAMENTS GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT
• Beer Game
Impacts of Supply Chain Management
Beer Game is the classic MIT simulation of the distribution chain of a brewery, and the effect
of demand variation on the logistic process (the « bull-whip » effect). It is played in a single,
three hour long session.

Distribution,…)
• Supplier Relation
Logistics agreement with the suppliers : consignment stocks and just in time agreements:
return experience and key points of the implementation.
• Purchasing
Many of the individual activities in the purchasing field that used to be viewed as tactical are
now moving rapidly toward the strategic end of the scale. This transition is discussed
throughout this session and the associated concepts are introduced. Furthermore, the
importance and the role of Purchasing in business management are explored. In this session
special attention is given to Purchasing as function and as a process. In the past, operations
have been basically split into internal and external segments.
• The importance of the purchasing function
• The role of the purchasing function
• The Purchasing process model
• Sourcing, Buying, Purchasing, Procurement, and Supply Management defined
• Evolution in the purchasing function
• Outsourcing
• Make-or-Buy strategy
• Subcontracting
• Supplier base
• The portfolio approach
• Demand Management
To gain an appreciation of demand forecasting as an integral component of any management
planning process
To become familiar with performance measurement metrics used by the demand
planning/forecasting function
To have an understanding of the logic, advantages, and disadvantages of various forecasting
techniques
To become aware of the information and knowledge management requirements to support
the demand planning/forecasting function
To recognize the various organizational approaches to demand planning and forecasting and
the underlying management issues associated with each approach
To be exposured to better, if not best, industry practices for demand forecasting and
planning.
For a 6-month period (from October to April), students work in groups of 5 or 6 either on a
supply chain management project requested by a particular firm, or else on a research project
that has been devised by our network of international universities and companies. Students
work as if the companies or institutions were their own clients. Several progress reports are
required during the study. The final report is presented to the client.
• CASH MANAGEMENT
Cash to cash cycle time, cash management processes
For a 6-month period (from October to April), students work in groups of 4 to 5 either on a
supply chain management project requested by a particular firm, or else on a research project
that has been devised by our network of international companies. Students work as if the
companies were their own clients. Several oral defenses are required during the study. The
Steering Committee of the company takes decisions on the proposed solutions of the
student's team.

INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIP
From July until October or December, students take part in a corporate work experience
assignment whose exact nature is determined by their host firm. Between April and June, the
student, his academic supervisor, and a representative of the company discuss the best way
to carry out their project, and to achieve the required outcome. The ISLI has to approve these
plans beforehand. The student prepares a report at the end of the assignment, and defends it
in front of a panel at which the company representative is present.
THESIS
The student has to prepare a thesis on an innovative subject of the supply chain and defends
it in front of a panel company and academic representatives.
1 - Analyse and then sum up all works and articles referring to an innovative subject that
were published during the last three years, Then introduce own thoughts using a personal
approach to the subject ( new model, new way of thinking,…).
