International Women’s Day
Celebrating 100 years of International Women’s Day
March 8, 2011

In 1908, 5000 women in New York marched in New York, demanding shorter work hours and higher
pay. In 1911, the first official International Women’s Day was celebrated, and in 2011, 100 years later,
International Women’s Day is a celebration of women all around the world.

Across the globe, events are being organized advocating the strength and importance of women. And
you can find those events right here on Scribd! In London, the CoolTan Arts Independent Gallery is
celebrating 100 years of International Women’s Day. In Kolkata, India, there is a meeting for
transgender women. And all across the US, you will find performances of the Vagina Monologues.
Still can’t find an event close to you? Plan one yourself!

Onward! To 100+ more years of International Women’s Day.
