Simply irresistible
The Elite family is at the very top of the MASTERColour CDM range, and gives a unique combination
of unbeatable light quality and consistent performance over lifetime while keeping running costs low.
Philips MASTERColour CDM Elite really does represent the next quality level in fashion retail lighting.
Like the successful MASTERColour CDM range, Elite lamps are characterised by stable colour
temperature during lifetime and a crisp, white light that gives an extremely accurate representation of
all colours. But that’s not all. Increased lumen output and superior colour rendering brings even more
sparkle to fashion retail outlets. It’s as if the volume is turned up on the colours; the effect is incredible.
Elite simply brings out the best out of your store.

MASTERColour CDM Elite also reduces your energy bill Philips PrimaVision results in optimal performance
MASTERColour CDM Elite is a further proof of our Philips PrimaVision gear is developed around MASTERColour
commitment to reduce energy and the environmental impact CDM and MASTERColour CDM Elite lamps. Every system
of our products. Being a ceramic discharge metal halide lamp, has been tested extensively about a million burning hours
the Elite lamps consume much less energy than halogen or before it can be released. For optimal system and long lasting
incandescent. By switching from conventional quality performance we recommend using Philips HID
MASTERColour CDM lamps to Philips MASTERColour CDM PrimaVision Gear.
Elite lamps, you can save up to 30 percent on your energy bill.
Elite is a Philips Green product, and therefore by definition
outperforms its predecessor or closest market competitors in
at least one of six key environmental areas. In the case of Elite,
it comes out on top in three; highest lumen output and highest
lumen maintenance in combination with unrivalled lifetime
reliability.

Shop window
Everybody is vying for attention. But with the proper lighting, your shop window can stand
out in the crowd. Light can be directed exactly where you want it, to offer highlights and
texture. Also, by applying higher lighting levels to your display and avoiding dark rear walls in
the background, you can avoid your window turning into a mirror. Dynamic lighting can create
stopping power, support seasonal themes, make shoppers curious, and make them want
to enter. www.philips.com/shoplighting

Markenstore
Location:

Lighting Design:
Sabine Mai (MaiLight)

Markenstore is a shop-in-shop
department store. The challenge is to
create a dynamic ambiance which
provides sufficient flexibility to adjust to
seasons and collections. A lighting
solution was implemented based on
Philips’ Ambiscene concept. The lighting
changes following the “Seasons”
scenario in AmbiScene: fresh yellows and
greens in spring, orange and reds in
summer, deeper reds in autumn, and
predominantly white in winter. The
speed of change also adapts to the
normal rhythm of the day: slowly during
opening hours, but faster when the store
is closed, drawing more attention to the
store. Owner Beate Niemann: “Since we
started using flexible light in the shop
window, lots more passers-by stop
outside to have a look. They are
attracted by the play with various light
colours and effects.”

Entrance
The entrance is the gateway to your brand. Shoppers should not only be enticed in –
with, for example, highlighted focal points, such as a new product or a seasonal ad campaign
– but also feel comfortable when they enter and want to explore further. They should
understand the layout of the shop and be able to locate the areas that interest them. Lighting
can be used to provide each zone with its own distinct character, while ensuring a cohesive
ambiance that reinforces your brand. www.philips.com/shoplighting

Counter &
cashiers desk
Queues at the cashiers desk means you are doing great business, but they can also frighten
away potential customers. Shoppers prefer not to have to wait in line, becoming bored and
frustrated. An ingenious use of dynamic lighting can provide a visual distraction, keeping
shoppers entertained as they wait. Carefully positioned accessory racks – illuminated to
attract attention – can persuade shoppers to make additional impulse purchases. And the
counter itself should be illuminated so that the staff can work comfortably and avoid any
errors in transactions. www.philips.com/shoplighting

Selling floor
It is here that your brand comes into its own. People need to see where they are walking and also
view the products in the best way. Careful use of vertical lighting on walls can make your shop look
more spacious. Or use more contrast by narrow beams to create a more intimate experience.
With Philips Ambiscene you can simply transform your shop: it can make it perceptually different
throughout the day, season, or to counteract weather conditions. It is all about creating a space
where shoppers want to be. www.philips.com/shoplighting

Racks, shelves
& displays
Your shop is a stage and your products are the leading actors. Our eyes tend to follow the
light, so a careful balance of accent and contrast can prove invaluable to focusing the shoppers’
attention. Accent lighting needs to be flexible, allowing a repositioning of the light as the
products and collections change. Racks and shelves can be lit from lighting in the ceiling or
by lighting directly on the shelves. And the use of the correct colour temperature – warm
light for, say, leather goods, and cool tones for jeans or suits – ensures that your merchandise
is always shown in the very best light. www.philips.com/shoplighting

Store architecture
Shops often have interesting architectural features – interesting wall structures, an exposed girder,
a column. By picking these out with careful lighting, you can make the stage more interesting for
the shopper. It is all about creating the shopping experience. Creating the promise of something
exciting, something out of the ordinary. Often such features can provide an inspiration for displaying
products, and for setting the scene for higher sales. www.philips.com/shoplighting

Changing rooms
This is the first time your shopper is alone with your product. And it is essential that both appear
as attractive as possible. Providing a flattering light, with as little shadow as possible, will make your
customer look and feel attractive – and isn’t that the first step to a purchasing decision? Choosing
the correct light colour temperature can also help show the product off to its best. And subtle use
of dynamic lighting allows the atmosphere to change with the season and collection.

MEXX is a fashion retailer with outlets in

more than 65 countries projecting the
image of “optimistic, non-conformist,
inspiring and fun”. In Haarlem, a project
has started to find ways to create and
project this “MEXX feel” more
effectively. Tunable white light has been
installed in the changing area which
supports the changing collection; the light
adapts to the specific season for which
the collection is intended – refreshing
light for the spring, cool light for the
summer, warm light for autumn, and
neutral white light for winter. Branch
manager Famke Roeterdink: “It’s great
for the customers because the collection
is shown in such an authentic light. They
no longer need to go outside to see what
the garment looks like in daylight.”
